SME turntables Dear Inna,Apologies my friend. I said the answer to the question was a simple one but I didn't say its implementation would be ;^)I guess what I'm really trying to say is that we will never be truly happy unless our choices are pleasing to us.You ...
SME turntables Dear Inna,That's an easier one than you might think : Ears + personal preference :) ;^)Cheers,
SME turntables Mordante said :I'm always a bit underwhelmed by SME arms. Never heard their turntables. But IMHO SME arms seem to suck out the live of the music. Over-dampened or something.Mordante,That's quite a common perception.Indeed the SME arm is well dampe...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP One thing I would say to the OP is to get the ideal support in the form of an AudioTech, Mana, or Sound Organisation table properly levelled - and not micro-rocking - on a solid composition floor (or a very rigid wall shelf with a loosely coupled ...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP Excellent point, Davey. Rumours of the "Death of the LP12" are greatly exaggerated... ;^)
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP I already own an expensive, "current standards", "neutral", massive, unsuspended turntable fitted with a Graham Phantom MkII which IMO beats, hands down, any of the alternatives mentioned above and I personally would be more than happy to own a 2n...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP What a fool I've been! Now I get it!"Current standards" must be the reason people are still listening to (and sometimes investing serious $$$ in) classic Direct Drives, Garrard 301s, 401s and Technics SL-1200 etc (not to mention the countless clas...

VPI Avenger Dear Mat,Thank you for your kind response.I actually expected you to say the excellence of the design justifies its sacrificial nature, but that would have been a bridge too far ;^)I'm sure the Avengers projected (conditional?) wear & tear est...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP Mission, being a small-town guy clearly didn't stop you doing all the updates you mention on your LP12 did it? ;^)
VPI Avenger Dear Mat,So, let me get this straight :Every year one must disassemble the Avenger, disassemble the main bearing, replace a worn out part, reassemble and redo the setup in order to get a "new" sounding turntable again(?)Seems to me this new idea i...
SME turntables SME are up there with the very best available. The "15" appears to be something of a giant killer. Superbly manufactured and childishly easy to set up.The best models are quite expensive though and for that kind of money I'd be looking at an Acutus.
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP The suspense is killing us, Emil... ;^)
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP Firstly, that depends on your subjective definition of "better".Secondly, turntable design is not as straightforward as ya might think so ya may be astonished to know that your "better" (insert as applicable) design has flaws. (This also means tha...
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP Well, since the OPs 3 preferred options are all Linn-based I'm going to stick with that question and keep it relevant. ;^)The LP12 has the distinction of being the (only?) turntable that can be built from scratch using readily available non-Linn p... |
