SF Amati vs Serafino That is good advice Daveyf, thank you!
SF Amati vs Serafino Thanks for the replies. Right now I have the Guarneri’s on the long wall under the 7’ part of the ceiling and it slopes over my head to the ‘back’ wall. I will probably keep this configuration though it would be nice to put the screen on the sho...
Preamp or Processor First Another thought...What about getting an excellent streamer/DAC and going direct into the D’Agostino amp and skipping the Yamaha and holding off on a preamp?I eventually will get a preamp, but I could do the stream/DAC first.
Mcintosh MX170 2-Channel Sound I wish I could hear the MX170 in my set up while listening to music and compare it to a good preamp. I am not sure how much better the MX170 will be in movies over my Yamaha but I am guessing a dedicated preamp will beat the MX170 in 2-channel en...
Preamp or Processor First Thanks for the feedback. Now to listen to some preamps! Since my amp is SS, I will probably lean tube, unless I get the D’Agostino progression. So it will probably come down to a Tube Mac, Audio Research Ref6, or the Progression. Thanks again!
Mcintosh MX170 2-Channel Sound Thanks for the comments, and for explaining the Samra reference, I had no idea.I currently have a 5.2, I have a sunfire amp powering Kef LS50’s for my rears at the moment. I want to get a pair of full range, possibly SF Olympica III’s or somethin...
Mcintosh MX170 2-Channel Sound My question was not very clear at all, sorry about that. I was basically asking if I should get a stereo preamp to go with my Yamaha processor or skip the preamp and just get a much better processor (MX-170).
Mcintosh MX170 2-Channel Sound I have the D’Agostino classic 3 and it is powering the Amati’s and the Vox center channel. Long term my plan is to get monoblocks for the Amati’s and have the classic 3 power the Vox and the rears.I do not own the Mac yet, I have a Yamaha CX-A510...
Sub Not Waking Up The Yamaha is not triggering them. When I go through the YPAO process I can hear them kick on and the light comes on. This does not happen when just listening to them. I rewired them using the speaker level inputs coming straight from the amp. ...
Bookshelf Speakers for Large Room Thank you all for the reply’s and great feedback. I have some research to do. The shelves above the speakers are adjustable and removable. At least up to the top of the tv, then it is a solid piece of wood.I wish I could listen to some of these...
Bookshelf Speakers for Large Room I uploaded a picture of my built in. I currently have KEF R series speakers that I am upgrading. Here is a link.https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8736Why not buy them? I probably will. I listened to them and loved them. The reason I am ask...
Bookshelf Speakers for Large Room I did not answer your last two questions:I will pair a good amp to the speakers, right now if I go with the Sonus Faber I will probably get D’Agostino amp. I do literally listen to all music but classic rock is probably my favorite but my list is...
Bookshelf Speakers for Large Room Is there a way to post a picture? I cannot find a way.The space where the speakers sit is about 22” deep.
Best Speakers for Very Large Bright Room Thank you all for the responses! Can someone suggest a specific dipole or ESL that would fit in my space? The built in space for the bookshelves is: 18" wide, 36" high, 21" deep and 36" off the floor. The 36" high is if I remove the two shelves a...
