Magnepan 3.6 or 3.7 - The smart choice? I agree that the Maggie X.7s are the way to go whether 3.7 or if you can the 20.7s.I kept my MGIIIAs forever, the final configuration witch used 2 Audio Research amps to bi amp with a Marchand XO and a pair of Velodyne subsI did audition later "3 ...
? "Upgrade" MG 20R to 20.7 I can only relate my experience, but I upgraded from Maggie MGIIIas to 3.7s then to 20.7s after a few months.I was bi-amping the MGIIIs with 2 Audio Research DH400MK2s. The AR amps can be bridged and will drive the 20.7s but to my ears the sound w...
Opinions on Magnepans sales/marketing approach to Stickman,,It is amazing how a 79 inch tall speaker can simply disappear and all you really seem aware of is the music.Maggie's have always sounded musical to me but the 20.7s seem to do more than reproduce, they recreate with a realism that startl...
Opinions on Magnepans sales/marketing approach to Now that I have heard both the 3.7 and 20.7 in the same room with the same electronics, I have to say that the 20.7s better the 3.7s enough out of the box to warrant the upgrade. The 3.7s are a great speaker and a steal at their price point but to ...
Opinions on Magnepans sales/marketing approach to Stickman,I got the same update. Originally was told to not expect them until November so this was great news!
Magnepan Service HORRIBLE??? Wolf,Yes, and while we have no reason to question the details supplied, they have been supplied by 1 side who has an emotional investment in the situation. Even though is has a question mark after "HORRIBLE " perhaps asking about others experience...
Magnepan Service HORRIBLE??? I just saw a pair of 3.7s on Audiogon that are in MN for svc and wondering if this is the same pair and something was worked out? Sure looks that way.http://app.audiogon.com/listings/magnepan-mg-3-7If so perhaps perception might have changed consi...
Magnepan Service HORRIBLE??? I can understand your frustration but do be aware that this is very much an exception to experiences most of us have had with Magnepan. Been a Maggie owner for 25+ years and when I sent my MGIIIas in for svc and they were damaged in shipping and M...
Maggie resisters Actually talked to tech guy at Magnepan today and was told that the resisters actually make it easier for amp to drive because it raises the ohms a bit which surprised me.Perhaps what I am hearing is additional noise of the bridged amps when playe...
The best speaker you ever heard? Mapman, Oldcar,Since you were at the CAF too, what did you think of the GT Audio Works GTA 2 and the Volti Vittora speakers? The latter looks almost exactly like a Klipsch LaScala but at 12k compared to what you can get a used Klipsch for, I would ...
The best speaker you ever heard? Tiltedhalos,I was at the Capital Audiofest Friday and it was one of the better sounding rooms but in all honesty I would take my Maggie 3.7 over virtually anything I heard that day.IMO most of the rooms had poor sound, but in all fairness I was th...
Opinions on Magnepans sales/marketing approach to Funny! :-)BTW my initial post/question was about business judgement and current dealer situation not about the character of the folks at Magnepan or dealers. Everyone at Magnepan I have ever talked with have been helpful and wonderful to work with...
Opinions on Magnepans sales/marketing approach to Elizabeth, You may be right about keeping the company the size it is, I guess, we will see. The 3.7s were my 4th set of Maggies I have purchased and I for one will not buy the 20.7s without audition. I am fairly sure I would buy them IF I could he...
The best speaker you ever heard? I would still have to pick the old Magnepan Tympani IVds driven by Mark Levinson. Those and the Klipsch Horns made the biggest impression anyway. Must have, I own Maggie 3.7s and Klipsch Corwalls now :-)My best if list would alo include Vanderstee...
Maggies with no Sub: Fantastic surprise I think you could by removing the mid and tweeter fuses and running just the bass cable from external Maggie XO. Seems like a bit of a waste of a great speaker but if the XO and amp can get them the signal, should work especially if you have more ... |
