warm sounding cartridge for rega arm
I had the Soundsmith Otello for a brief period of time and thought it was a bit lifeless. Very flat, not much sparkle on the high end but not much warmth in the mid-bass either. I'm actually looking for something similar and have heard folks talk ...
Ortofon Salsa LOMC resistive loading?
I have a Rega RP3 and Clearaudio Nano. Digital sources are OK. My speakers are Spendor A6. Much of the music I play is jazz, classical, folk....older classic rock but some of the newer groups like Mumford and Sons and Tedeschi Trucks are appealing...
Ortofon Salsa LOMC resistive loading?
I'm looking at the tone arm now and the front of the tonearm is ever so slightly higher than the rear and I'm not talking much. The high end is really nice. Maybe it's just a different cart sound signature that might do it.
Soundsmith cartridge, opinions appreciated
Bpoletti, thanks for the reply. Question though, I suppose I can add mass with a spacer or weight at the headshell, which might require VTA adjustment which is OK but is it the best solution to add mass in just one spot (headshell) instead of acro...
Kimber with MIT ?
Good news Schubert! MIT bass is exacting. When it is on the recording and goes deep you know it and feel it, no regular thumping. I added a pair of CVT-1 balanced IC's from my DAC to integrated amp and noted increased spacial presentation as well....
Caution Monster XP Spkr Wire
Rok2id, Thanks for the caution on the Monster turbo RCAs. I haven't used any of their ICs, just speaker along with some of their DIY bananas which I thought were fine.
Caution Monster XP Spkr Wire
Rok2id, I wouldn't say it's as good as anything else. I would say its not bad though for inexpensive speaker cable. I'm in the midst of a cable search for my system and have found a good bit of differences in all types of cables. I've tried Blue J...
Caution Monster XP Spkr Wire
Monster XP is pretty good in my opinion. Used it for several years with KEFs . Bottom end is pretty tight but highs a little splashy on occasion but over all not bad. Much fuller, cleaner than the 14 guage lamp cord I was using for a few years.
Kimber with MIT ?
Thanks Shubert, looking forward to it.
Kimber with MIT ?
I'd love to hear your impressions of the MIT CVT 2 cables. I'm looking at interconnects now to go with my MIT speaker cables. There is a lot of talk about matching interconnects and speaker cable within the same brand adding synergy. I don't know ...
CD Transport?
Bel Canto was the one I was trying hard to remember, thank you. The Misical Fidelity is definitely under consideration if for no other reason than remote control compatibility (just kidding). I really like my MF gear. Did Naim make something a whi...
CD Transport?
Price range would be under $1000 if possible.
am i done ?
I'd say you got lucky with the Cardas. It sounds like you hit on a winning combination.
MIT Cables
I have been on the great speaker cable quest for about two months. Started with Monster XP which I had before my system upgrade and have tried the following:Blue Jeans Cable - ok but mids fell backDH Labs T14 - silver, horribly thin, no bass, bad ...
Kimber with MIT ?
I can tell you that the MIT Matrix 28 cables I am using on loan now from a dealer will become MINE next week. I've listened exhaustively and nauseatingly to all kinds of cable, from Monster XP, to Audioquest Rock 44, to DH Labs, Silversonic, to Mo...
