Phono preamp, all suggestions welcome
Schiit now has a higher end phono preamp, the Skoll, for $400.  I don't have a phono setup anymore, but I am very, very pleased with the sound quality of the several Schiit items I've bought. Great sound at a very good price.
Why isn't better quality used gear being made available?
@emergingsoul -- so, what does the above response have to do with your original question regarding the availability of used equipment and the responses to that question from others?  You make it difficult to take your posts seriously.
Why isn't better quality used gear being made available?
There is a ton of used quality equipment available. Where it becomes difficult is when the shopper is unwilling to be flexible and only wants a very specific make and model. Things get worse if they limit their interest to a specific version or, f...
Roon Aquisition: Will This Help Or Hamper?
My guess is that they'll continue honoring the lifetime membership as respects what it currently does, BUT come up with new features that you'll have to pay for separately if you want access to them.  Just a thought....
True high-end Speakers need a midrange
I get all the volume, clarity and off-axis performance I need out of my Ohms, which have a single driver for bass thru treble. Their tweeter doesn't cross over until about 8 or 9 KHz.
Help with streamer software
I don't have an Airlens, but the specs do say it is DLNA ready. There are lots of apps that support internet radio via DLNA. Perhaps approach it from that angle. I use Logitech Media Server and it integrates my local collection, internet radio an...
Looking for an all-in-one just-add-speakers streamer for my son to take to college
If you are just streaming, check out a Wiim Mini or Pro as the streamer and look into AudioEngine speakers. Good performance at a great price. I set up an office system with a Mini and the AE B2 and connect them with Bluetooth. The B2 is a one-box...
Can you touch the tubes?
I suspect the white glove thing ties back to someone with a bad case of OCD and a good imagination. I've worked with tube gear for over 50 years now -- building, repairing and using -- and never had a problem handling tubes with my hands. No tube...
jitter
Guess one needs to add a "satire" indicator to one's posts....
Would a Topping A90 or A90D be a significant upgrade from the A30 Pro?
If you think your current Topping is a bit "clinical" you might want to try one of the Schiit headphone amps. I have an Asgard and a Lyr 3 and think both are excellent sounding. The current version of the Lyr can be run without a tube. Schiit also...
jitter
>> "manufacturer is sending an updated model which will have an way to adjust for jitter in the input" That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
Which frequency to adjust if voices/mids give me a headache.
An all-too-common problem in recordings is vocal sibilance, typically cause by using the wrong microphone or having it placed too close to the singer's mouth -- we want to hear them sing, not examine their tonsils.  And, there are some singers who...
jitter
I suspect adjusting the DAC's buffer will fix your dropout problem, but I'm rather skeptical that the issue is "excessive jitter" from the streamer or recording.
jitter
No current DAC can remove jitter that was embedded in the file by the ADC when the recording was made. This is the same as trying to "fix" a recording where the wrong mics were used or poorly placed, or bad mixing, balance, EQ and other decisions ...
any current integrated amps in market have great dacs?
Check out Schiit's Ragnarok integrated amplifier. It has an option to include their R2R DAC card. I have that DAC in their Lyr 3 headphone/preamp and it is a very good DAC.
