Cd player w/ digital input + volume control $2500
I decided to purchase a Metrum Octave, as the current exchange rate is a little more favorable. If I don't like it, I'll sell it, I guess, but by all accounts, it may match what I want/need in a DAC.Thanks for the feedback everyone. Now, on to pream...
Cd player w/ digital input + volume control $2500
I've done a lot of research on all of this now, (but am no closer to an answer!).I am heavily favoring a pair of Totem Fire speakers at the moment. The Earth speakers would be my preference, but I'm not sure about the cost of those. Anyway, for am...
Cd player w/ digital input + volume control $2500
Good recommendations all.I'll look into all and see what I can find.I understand the sonos has a lot of jitter. Should I be looking for a re locking DAC? I do coincidentally have a monarchy dip 24/96 here...---Michael
Cd player w/ digital input + volume control $2500
Ejlir,That's a very good thought, and something I have considered, but without extensive testing, I didn't figure I would be able to answer it, so I appreciate the feedback. That opens me up to a much less expensive DA and a really excellent preamp...

Cd player w/ digital input + volume control $2500
...Also, I suppose an alternate approach would be to get a really good DAC with volume control, and then a separate CD transport of some kind.I have an EAD Ultra DVD player that has served me well as a transport in the past, and I could re-purpose...
Totem speakers and others that I should consider?
Listened to the Aerial 7T and the PSB Synchrony One today to begin my auditioning of other speakers...The 7T easily bested the PSB in comparison, but that is somewhat to be expected considering the pricing difference ($4500 to $9850, if I recall c...
Totem speakers and others that I should consider?
Thanks for all the feedback everyone... I am quite experienced with audio, just not in the past 8-10 years, as I had a system that I was very satisfied with, and happily listened to it without feeling the need to change. That system is gone now, an...
Amps and integrateds w/ similar sonic sig to MC275
Pubul57,No, they aren't but they were the nicest I sounding SS amps I could afford at the time! The Pass gear is very fine, but I do prefer the sound of a good tube amplifier.I'll have to do some listening of the Pass gear if there is a dealer near...
Totem speakers and others that I should consider?
Thanks for the comments. I'll look into the speakers mentioned.I'm a little surprised that there isn't more discussion on the forum on the Element speakers from Totem. From my perspective, they are remarkably good speakers. I would have expected s...
Amps and integrateds w/ similar sonic sig to MC275
Thanks you two...I first got an Aleph 3 years ago before it was declared a 'giant killer' because I loved the sound (the most tube-like that I had heard from a SS amp). I added an X-150 in another system and still was very pleased...Lost most of t...
Amps and integrateds w/ similar sonic sig to MC275
I had a chance to listen carefully to the new Totem Earth and Fire speakers......and also the Forest speakers and a few other models. I'm very impressed with what they are doing in the new Element series, and will probably be getting one of those,...
Amps and integrateds w/ similar sonic sig to MC275
Hi Joe,I've heard some Cayin, but not that particular one. It is one that I was thinking might be a viable candidate, though.Maineack, the VAC gear I've listened to sounds good, but I've only had a little exposure to them (RMAF this fall). I need ...
Thoughts on the Rogers EHF-100?
I'm interested in this amp. I heard it at RMAF a month ago, and it sounded nice (but it's very hard to do any real comparisons at a show like that).I'm interested in Totem speakers as well, so the match could be made in heaven, as Totem thinks ver...
Amps and integrateds w/ similar sonic sig to MC275
Pdreher,Thanks for the thoughts... I am inclined to agree with you on that approach. I was hoping for a short list of amps that I should consider as alternates, but so far that is not forthcoming. When I was at RMAF, I saw that Totem was driving so...
