Deep Cleaning Records With Steam? I got a steamer from Walgreens, got it set up next to my VPI RCM. During the vacuum cycle I steam the record at the same time, they come out squeeky clean. I just use a home brew of distilled water, alcohol and dish soap to clean and distilled wat...
Better than my 32" Sony Wega XBR? I bought my 36" WEGA XBR right before the flat panel craze started. Just to save room I'd like to go to a flat panel but my picture is so darn good and I paid so darn much for this TV I just can't move yet.Mike
Speakers and what's between them In my experience I had a TV in between the speakers and it collapsed the soundstage. I've now quit trying to play with home theater and I place my other components on the floor not on a rack between the speakers. This allows much more depth of the...

JM Focal 1037 BE speaker placement Thanks Tmstamps, I too have a suspended wood floor and carpeting. I thought about tilting but put my speakers on 15x18x3" butcher block maple slabs. I just got these speakers and the rest of my system is new to me, I took a two year layoff and am ...
JM Focal 1037 BE speaker placement Thank you Ben and Shadorne. I'm in the ballpark at 28" to 32" from the side walls and 36 to 48" from the back wall. Any closer than 32" from the side walls and the speakers get very close together in my 11.5ft wide room. They seem to sound best as...

Concrete or Wood floor in listening room? Thanks Dave,Mike
Concrete or Wood floor in listening room? Dave, You lost me with your statement "A well constructed sub-floor will be just as good as cement in isolation from vibration." The floor I am planning will be cement, if it is just as good as a well constructed sub-floor why add wood over cement...
Concrete or Wood floor in listening room? Ejlif, Yes horns, Duo's. I Have not talked to Jim about this, thought I'd talk to the (other) experts first. Thanks,Mike
Concrete or Wood floor in listening room? Q-man, Carpeting on a concrete slab is done no matter where you live. I'm more interested in the sound quality of one versus the other rather than building practices.Boss302, My gear is a digital front end to tubes to horns.Thank you all

Audio Aero Puck Fix. Unclejeff, Mine works fine too, I just noticed a slight play (back and forth in the puck) only several thousanths of an inch or the thickness of the tape. I was thinking of machining a new puck from plastic, now that is a full moon idea! Mike
Audio Aero Direct into Amps. I run mine direct and balanced into Krell mono's. In a search here and at AA I found this to be the prefered method by far, at least by those who answered the question. No issues, it sounds wonderful. |
