.Uru975....I have a Sony that does exctly all of the things that you mentioned above. The cd track I have it set to wake me is "It's A Beautiful Morning" by the Young Rascals. Paid about $50 for the thing about ten years ago. I've used it in my re...
Why not use mains as centers
.Kal, technically you may be correct, however,in my system it sounds outstanding. I've tried other speakers designed specifically for center channel duty, and they just didn't measure up. Hearing is believing.I have two Infinity Kappa Video Center...
Why not use mains as centers
I use a full-range main speaker as a center channel....and it rocks. I use an infinity Kappa 9 laid horizontally as my center channel.
2nd system? Older Carver gear....
Get yourself a pair of Carver Silver 9t monoblocs. Lots of power, good sounding and will drive anything. The C-16 solid state or c-19 tube preamps from Carver are nice too.
Netflix and Tivo to stream internet movies to Tivo
.I have a Netflix Roku player that I bought for my 11 year-old son to stream movies from Netflix. I paid $100 for the Roku player. The adage that "you get what you pay for" is certainly true in this case. I wouldn't have the nerve to invite a gues...

.I have a 71" 1080p DLP television and a 240" projection screen. As the picture gets bigger, blu-ray really shows its stuff and the differences in regular dvd and blu-ray become more apparent. You will get more benefit from blu-ray as your screen g...

.I've heard the Sansui 8080 playing Cervin Vega speakers, with a reel to reel as the source. It sounded outstanding.....but that was 30 years ago..
best bang/ buck - old sansui vs panasonic XR
.If you are going 2-channel only, go with the Sansui. Lots of power, great tuners and they sound great. If you are considering one for home theater use, forget about the Sanusi receivers....they have no digital connections, which make them dinosau...
High end Audio for ladies? Check this out
.All of this will of course introduce a new acronym into the hi-end lexicon.HAF....husband acceptance factor. You were a single female audiophile who is now getting married to a very manly man. What stays? His big Krell monoblocs and Wilson Grand ...
High end Audio for ladies? Check this out
.Talk about the perfect woman!! I'd love to meet a woman that bought her own hi-end system. Whew, someone to share, appreciate and understand the sonic bliss I hear when everything is working properly. A great spinoff would be a dating site that m...
CARVER FANS
.Yes, they have lights.....I have five pairs of them. If the lights in yours are not working, it's probably best to just leave it alone. It doesn't affect the performance of the amp. The lights and the meters are purely cosmetic..
Pass Labs X5
.New retail was $4500 for that amp..
Surround Format Question
.I run a 7.1 system and I use the analog inputs on my processor also. Until I figure out how to make my player engage the back speakers when not playing a 7.1 disc, I use a y-connector to split the signal and send the surround signal to the surrou...
2 bookshelves for a center
.If you can get the Usher's on a trial basis....you have to try it...it may work. I've seen threads here where a few people have tried it and loved it. There is no consensus on this, so give it a try if you get the opportunity..
Review: Marantz BD-8002 Blu Ray player Video
.Another thing, be sure to remove the disc after a movie. I found out that if you leave a disc in the tray without pushing the 'stop' button or without shutting the unit down, it will start the movie over and play it again every time the movie ends..
