You'll know it when you hear it
.I remember the first time reading here where a guy mentioned that he watched his speakers 'disappear'. For the life of me, I couldn't imagine what he was talking about. As my system improved and the first time I witnessed it in my system, I was s...
Help power pair of Infinity Kappa 9's please
You need amps with more testicular fortitude.
Marantz AV8003 Processor
.You got an excellent bargain for a processor at that price. I cannot vouch for its two channel strengths, I've never taken the time to see. Be sure and read the manual....twice. You'll find that the unit is very flexible and has a ton of features..
AV Receiver good enough for high end audio?
....er, um, ah....I think I'll pass on the hunting invitation. I seem to recall a hunting incident in the news a few years back on a Texas ranch involving a Mr. Cheyney. Since then, I've retired my rifle and hunting boots..
AV Receiver good enough for high end audio?
.Macdadtexas, I conceed you might have seen a few jackalopes in Texas, but I'm pretty certain that everything else on that list is a myth..
Sooloos + Modwright Transporter Functional Mashup
.Get an iPhone or Ipod Touch and buy the iPeng app for the iPhone. It really makes the SqueezeCenter sing. Ask anyone that uses the iPeng app for their Squeezebox or Transporter, it makes life a lot easier..
Are You a Sansui Lover?
.I bought a Sansui 771 receiver back in 1975 when I was in college. I still remember it as some of the best sound I ever heard..
Amp output is wired in series vs parallel?
.Ngjockey, you are spot on, this whole thread was started with the Kappa 9 in mind. I think bi-amping with two pair of 7B SST might be a better option. Too many questions about the 28B SST low ohm performance. And at $16k per pair for the 28B, I'd...
High End Audio and Your hearing as you get older
.I'm a little disappointed to hear that I will sill be able to tell the difference between mid-fi and high end into my 80's. I was hoping by age 70 that I could save a bundle of dough by buying a one-box all-in-one system at Wal-Mart and still hav...
Bryston 28B SST
.The 'Sqared' design is still two bridged amps. For Bryston to omit the power ratings into 4 ohms and 2 ohms is a glaring omission. Speakers that dip to two ohms and below would choke the life out of this amp as it's configured on the website. Bry...
Bryston 28B SST
.The review in the link below from a review in stereophile magazine addresses the low impedance issue. The review may answer the questions why some users above thought the 28B SST was lacking in dynamics. If you have speakers that go to 4 ohms or ...
Bryston 28B SST
.How does the 28B SST stand up to low impedances?? Bryston clearly lists the power output of the 7B SST at 4 ohms. But, it is a glaring omission when it fails to mention the 4 ohm rating for the 28B SST. Bryston mentions that the 28B SST is a brid...

In need of Audio Research preamp recommendation
.If you've got $5k to spend, another two or three hundred bucks will get you a Ref3. Outside of the Ref5 and the new 40th Anniversary model, the Ref3 is far and away better than anything else in the AR lineup. The Ref3 is a game-changer..
Dan D'Agostino is back with a new line
.Their upcoming preamp is going to contain a digital media server. It will be good to see high end companies start do develop and improve the digital server sector of the audio market. It is the future. It seems D'Agostino is planning on making ne...
