Audio Research Ref. 3, Ref. 5, or the Ref. 5se. Jafant, that Ref3 should be ready to rock right out of the box. It's at least 5 years old and fully broken in.One hour of warm-up...and SHOWTIME!
Audio Research Ref. 3, Ref. 5, or the Ref. 5se. Congrats Russ! You are going to love it. Please come back to this thread and give us a review.
Audio Research Ref. 3, Ref. 5, or the Ref. 5se. Buy the Ref3 now. It is an outstanding line stage. Whenever you get ready to move up to the Ref 5SE, you can always trade up... or you just may find yourself content with the Ref3 with no desire to trade up.
Spectron Musician ii issue Time to move on. You've fixed it twice and it failed after each repair. It ruined a speaker. Move on to a new amp.
Latest Absolute Sound .The Absolute Sound reviewed the Infinity Primus 363 speaker in February this year. That speaker is selling for $115.00 each on Amazon as of this writing. I bought four of them at $99.00 each earlier this year on Amazon. Free delivery too. So,...
What vintage speaker might you use today .I still use Infinity IRS Betas, made in 1987. Excellent speakers. However, I'm currently looking for speakers made in the 21st century. Parts and repair for the Betas are impossible to find, let alone getting them to and from a repair facili...
New format, dislike..... ...geez, you guys are audiophiles, you know there is a break-in period!Give it 400 hours or so and it will settle in..
The Hifi Trajectory Of Class D Amplifiers hifi manufacturers can't make the switching frequency technology happen, this can only come from big component manufacturers, like Burr Brown, Analog Devices and such.George, is this because hifi mfgs pockets aren't deep enough to finance the rese...
$510.00 for an Aluminum cover for the ARC Ref. 10? .I've been pondering a pair of Audio Research Ref 610T tube amplifiers. $45k when new, can now be had for $14k. I've been thinking long and hard about acquiring a pair, but the specter of the $4K cost to re-tube haunts me. If I pull the trigger on...
Solid State Amplifier Advancements In A Decade .Kr4, thanks for the link. I read the review. I wonder if that technology can be scaled to create an amp that can play at 500 wpc or 1,000 wpc at 8 ohms at attainable prices..
$510.00 for an Aluminum cover for the ARC Ref. 10? .Markwatkiss, I've owned several BMW's...and still own one. And I do know that when you buy one, you sign up for the insane maintenance costs that go along with it. I've done that since 1984 and wouldn't have it any other way. After more than 30 y...
Best value in pre-owned preamps right now? .My vote goes to the Audio Research Reference 3.Right at $5k and sometimes a little less, it is a stunner. The new Reference 6 is $14k..
Solid State Amplifier Advancements In A Decade "I really haven't seen a major technological improvement in circuit design. regulators, power supply, circuit topology, etc. no real major changes. Just better components, layouts, etc. And as I wrote earlier, better transistors."The above stateme...
Which Processor? .I've used the Marantz AV8802 for years. It is an excellent processor for home theater. I use the Marantz for home theater only, I have never used the Marantz for 2-channel. I've never heard the Krell Foundation.. |
