Bigkidz, I was responding to the poster of the wanted ad (who listed their area code as 90810) and my reference of more brains than balls was for the goon who would take shipment of the speakers, remove the tweeters, ruin a woofer then send them b...
Alon 5 woofer wanted -and refinish advice
Hi Bigkidz, I hope things are well with you. Hey area code 90810, whoever you are, sorry to hear about your mess with the Alons. Some people have more balls than brains. Anyway, if you look at my system you will see it is possible to go from that ...
Is McCormack and Conrad one and the same?
The other thing is that McCormack gear is warranted by C-J, but Steve runs a successful business SMc modifying both older and newer McCormack to achieve a potential using better parts that was not allowed at the selling price points. BTW, has anyo...
Do you care about the LOOK???
I agree with Albertporter, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, it does matter how the stuff looks, especially in the case of a system in the living room, as opposed to a system in a dedicated HT room. I tend to like solid, well-built bu...
Buying used when you should have bought new...

I picked it up on your suggestion Jond, and it has been in my car CD player for the past 4 days. I am looking forward to hearing it on the house system soon. I especially like the U2 tune "One," and several of the others.
What's your dirty little secret?
Windy was my first audiophile recording and the unanimous selection of my first audio club. It was 6th grade, and all the club members had $3 transistor radios. We would run the earphone cords up our shirtsleeve in class and discretely plug in the...

Geez Rackon, nothing like stealing the whole catalog! Remind me to have you DJ my next party. Ok, I'll add a couple. My wife out of the blue last weekend came home with Billy Idol's greatest hits. My first thought was, what the hell...this stuff s...
What do you think of my 25 laws of audio
Good job John, the R.U.P. website is a good example of getting your point across without 25 laws.
Tri-wire cables?
I have made multiple pair from various cables for my Alon speakers, which have tri-wire binding posts. I am currently using DH Labs with two single T-14's for mid and high frequencies, and one Q-10 for low frequencies to each speaker. I have some ...

Help me deceide on pre-amp please
C123666, I used to think the tube cost was bad, but after researching and playing with the SF preamps, I found only two of the tubes made most of the difference compared to stock tubes. For example, the SF Line 2 and Line 1 only take 6 tubes each,...
