Why pay so much?
@elizabeth Exactly!  People are gonna do what they want.  This whole topic is one big "so what!"
Network Switches
@david_ten Did the posts / responses answer your questions? Yes, I believe so for now. Thanks again to all for the help.  Based on the responses here and my sleuthing around on the internet, it seems a good start would be to purchase a switch an...
Network Switches
Things that may or may not make a difference in what I will hear is that with my Roon endpoint, the Metrum Ambre; "The board is completely and optically decoupled from the rest of the Ambre."This is apparently done using;"ultra-fast industrial opt...
Network Switches
Thanks again guys.Regarding power supplies, I have an HD Plex just sitting around that I can hook up to my router this weekend.  The HD Plex I have is totally configurable for different voltages with multiple fixed and variable outputs.  I can als...

Network Switches
Thanks guys. There are indeed other devices connected to my router by Ethernet cables, such as a smart TV and an Apple TV box so what I believe you are implying is that a separate switch will perform the switching duties better than my Orbi router...
Network Switches
I would like to know why I would need a switch as discussed here, where I would use it, and what it would do for me.  My knowledge of switches is basically non-existent, hence the dumb question.  If this is not the thread for this then just say ...
Who needs a Preamp??
If your source has a high quality volume control (as with a few DACs that change volume by adjusting the reference voltage), you can achieve the impedance and power supply benefits mentioned earlier using a high quality, unity gain, buffer, which ...

Why pay so much?
@nicotico Ever used the services of a lawyer or doctor? Yeah, both.  The first protects your money and/or your freedom, and the second keeps you breathing.   Those are not easy university programs to be accepted into or easy degrees to obtain, cer...
Something For The Fuse Guys ...
@nonoise All it took was some enterprising chaps to apply it to audiophile needs and jack up the price. You forgot...."and apply the appropriate color!"BTW, I suggested years ago to try orthodontic (i.e., very small) rubber bands around the tops o...
Ayre QB9 Twenty Upgrade
If you like the sound, and trust the ears of the folks at Ayre, the upgrade could be a good option for you.  In addition to better sound, benefits would likely include a full check-up of the DAC as well as a restart of the warranty.I am a big prop...
