Has the cost of HiFi gotten a bit too much?
New "Hi End" audio equipment is very high now.  People talk about how the prices back in the day was reasonable.  But, that is also relative to what a person could afford back then.  The salaries were very much lower back then also. So, it's all ...
amp repair cost too high??
This logic never made sense to me.  Repairing or replacing based on the costs to repair.  nope. it is math.  If it would take much more money to replace this piece in order to achieve the same or better sound quality, then repair it.  Stop worry...
What is an audiophile? Are you an audiophile?
A lover of music is a person that can sit and listen to music on any system regardless of the quality or cost. An Audiophile cannot.  If the reproduction of music isn't up to their quality standards, it will drive them out of the room.  Like hear...
Anything SS sounds better than D'Agostino ?
D'Agostino amps are some of the best equipment out there.  Regardless of whether they are solid state or tube.   To say that tube amps are best is not correct.  To say that solid state amps are best is not correct either.   A great tube amp is j...
What is it I'm failing to grasp?
many great responses here. I have always had an issue with the "live unamplified music" being the gold standard. As mentioned in previous posts, a lot depends on the venue, where one is sitting, etc. I have attended several (more than I remember...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle.
I understand that some dealers require appointments.  If that is the case, maybe they should place signage that says appointments only.   Or hours where appointment are only accepted and walk ins other times.Setting up rooms for tire kickers takes...
Capital Audiofest, save thyself!
I've attended several audio (equipment) shows over the decades and I disagree with the OP on many issues.1.  I've had no problem at all meeting and speaking with designers.  Also, dealers are also friendly and knowledgeable and accessible.2.  Musi...
Help me diagnose a terrible new noise from my tube amp!!!
I agree. Go back to your original configuration and start from there.  If the problem didn't exist before you changed the coupling caps, then that is the problem. Take them completely out and start again.Enjoy
For ARC lovers, Problems?
sigh! spell check.  Your due diligence.enjoy
For ARC lovers, Problems?
you did you due diligence.  You actually were able to compare in your system three pretty nice pre-amps.  That is great.  You were hearing only the swapped component in the same system, in the same room.  It doesn't get better than that.I'm glad y...
What is the most important component to consider while building a new system?
Everything involved impacts sound quality. So what are we talking about here? Are we starting from scratch with a completely empty room and a fixed budget? Most times, people already have equipment and are desiring to upgrade.  If you aren't happy w...
Martin logan panel removal?
Martin logan user website is also a good idea.  But, I do agree with @spatialking.C@spatialkingcontact the company.  enjoy
AUDIO RESEARCH VS VTL
The questions wasn't about service, it was about which was the best. That totally depends on system, room, and what equipment you are comparing. Are you comparing a 50 wpc amp vs a 100 wpc or 200 wpc or 300 wpc amp?  A $2k pre-amp vs a $30 k pre-amp...
Received a Bill for State Tax on An Amp Bought in Canada Last Year
Taxes and cost of living is low enough for the low income to have good standard of living??????  Wow.  That is such a mistaken false statement, but helps me understand why certain people do nothing to help solve the problems.Same thought for slave...
Received a Bill for State Tax on An Amp Bought in Canada Last Year
Wow.  So much California Bashing.  Most have no real clue what they are actually talking about.Laws were passed some years ago regarding internet sales and that sales taxes had to be reported to the IRS.  Most people still don't do that by-the-way...
