solid state gear- leave on?
Any amplifier that has a slow start circuit effectively removes the problem of large inrush current cycling.  That is why the slow start circuits were developed. This eliminates the argument about turning the amp on and off and inrush current issue...
Sellers Beware!!!
I am having a real problem with these posts and the issue.  No one here is selling top secret equipment, so what difference does it make who you sell to?  As long as their payments clear before you ship the item, where is the problem?Paypal would ...
Audio Research service
My REF 250 power amps were out of warranty and the replaced the faulty capacitors with the latest and greatest and also upgraded the internal wiring to the SE caps and internal wiring for no cost.  The only difference between my REF 250s and 250SE...
Building a system from scratch (other than speakers)
The Martin Logan forum is a good place to ask ML questions. Also, check the owner's manual for the speakers and make sure you are using amps within the power and impedance requirements that Martin Logan recommends for those speakers.I own Martin Lo...
Audio Research discontinuing lower lines components?
I was referring to Audio Research when I abbreviated it as AR.shouldnt have been difficult at all to figure out which company I was referring to.
Audio Research discontinuing lower lines components?
I understand and respect the issues and feelings raised here.  I do feel that there is way too much AR bashing going on here.  Unless you work in AR's Accounting department, you have no idea what it costs to research, design and manufacturer equip...
In a lot of these threads people say without the room being treated
I can't believe that someone's spouse felt that Maggies were ugly. I feel that they are beautiful.  When my lady friend first saw my Martin Logan Monolith IIIs speaker, she actually said that they were pretty.  now the hugh Mark Levinson 23.5 amps...
question about ss or tubes
it is always fun to read ss vs tube debates. I don't believe there is a right or wrong in the discussion. There are some wonderful ss devices and also some wonderful tube devices.I do agree with Atmosphere's advice. However, I would alter that sli...
Dedicated Line Advise
I love these stories.  This is why it is always important to use a volt meter and check to see that the voltage is zero on the phases. In the utility industry, one always checks hot voltage first to see if the meter is working, then check the "de-e...

Or, if your breaker panel is like mine (I just looked), if you have an open breaker position in the panel on the other phase, you can simply move the breaker in question to the other side/phase, snap it into place and you are done.enjoy
Dedicated Line Advise
lowrider57;  moving hot leads from one phase to another in the panel takes no time at all for an electrician.Adding a new box takes a little more work.  But what you described is really not complicated.  You could actually do this yourself if you ...
Am I too cynical?
I know we have said this many times before but, it really does pay to audition equipment in your own home first.  Many people can't do that, so the next best thing are friends or auditioning in stores.  Some still can't go that either.  Buying wit...
AC Line Problems
you know, one test of getting old is typing a response post, actually reading it before posting, then posting it, only to discover spelling errors that you completely missed.  Sigh!
AC Line Problems
If you are having voltage sag problems on you line, you should notify your electric utility at once in writing.  mention the problem and state clearly that you believe that this is a safety issue.  That buzz word "safety" triggers the utility to c...
Pioneer DV-09 plays DVD's not CD's help
I would contact Pioneer to see if they have a service center nearby.  They can fix this unit.It is a great unit.  Built like a tank and a very good transport. hard to beat. Same for the BDP09 unit and the 79AVI.  They make very nice transports.  T...
