classe audio questions
I've never had any problems with my Classe amp but I have used their customer service department. They were always helpful and answered any questions I has.
Album Sides
Haven't thought about it in quite a while. Ramones, Rockin' Roll High School, side 1....Allman Brothers Live at The Fillmore East side 1...Springsteen Grretings from Asbury Park side 2
Multi channel much better than stereo?
Regardless of cost, I've been incredibly disappointed in multichannel sound. The systems and setups I've heard sound artificial, in terms of where the sound is coming from. I don agree that Hell Freezes Over does sound very good, but for me.....it...
How big is too big?
If you're not buying HDTV, audition the TVs from your expected viewing distance as Perfectimage stated. Buy the biggest screen where you can NOT see the horizontal lines. From 10-12 feet away you'll likely end up with a screen size 50-60 inches (I...
Where can you buy REL sub woofers? Thx
I agree with Sugarbrie. Most of Tweeter's sales people don't have a clue. I live in Connecticut (far from where you're trying to find a dealer) but I've spoken with the people at Ambrosia and they are knowledgeable and friendly. They'll give you g...
I give up on HT
I don't have any choice but to combine HT and stereo. Elgordo has made the key point in why this doesn't work well....lack of imaging and lack of soundstage depth due to the TV (I have a 50" RPTV) between the speakers. I've pulled the front L&...
One step up from entry-level?
Current issue (Jan/Feb 2001) of "The Perfect Vision" has an AV Receiver Buyers Guide in it. Good place to start.Good Luck
B W monitors too bright?
I've auditioned the N805s with a Sony ES receiver (don't recall model) followed by Rotel amp (RMB985) preamp (RSP976)setup. The Sony made the 805s sound thin and somewhat on the bright side. The Rotel setup was completely different....big soundsta...
Integrated Amp for Thiel 2.3 s ?
I agree with your assessment of the combination you are currently using. Classe CAP150 or CAP151 (newer version of the 150, virtually the same) is a much warmer integrated vs. the Krell. I've heard both with the Thiel 2.3s and the Classe is much b...
Vibrapods and Speakers
Dekay, FYI, I do not about Reynaud but Sonus Faber speakers are made in a way that purposely does not eliminate all the cabinet resonances. They claim the sound is more musical for this reason.
Does gauge of speaker cables matter?
To confuse things even more, there are some who feel that higher frequencies travel better on smaller guage wire (ie. 22-30 AWG) while lower frequencies should use larger gauge (8-12 AWG). But keep in mind that material used, whether copper or sil...
Thiel 2.3--bright or harsh ?
I do not know the specs of the Krell KAV 300i nor have I heard it connected to the 2.3s. That being said, Thiel 2.3s require a high current amp. I have heard these driven with a Forte amp and preamp (class A electronics; 50 WPC!!! but high current...
AV receivers to stay away from??
Go with a Denon. Of all the receivers out there that I've heard, Denon always sound richer and clearer. You'll get reasonable bass response without sacrificing the top end. Yamaha sound is thin and to the bright side. I haven't heard any of the HK...
