Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
Chris (and all you Berning-believers), my reason for starting this thread was to explain that while the Berning is a bang-for-the buck leader.....it is not in the realm of the Tenor. the differences my original post described are the things that s...

Kevin, i recieved my 1ds in November 2001, they were the first set made. no other sets of 1Ds were delivered until January or Feburary of 2002. if you heard them in Holland, was that in Charles von Oostrom's room?i am curious about your speakers.....

Kevin....ok...i'll bite....since until about a month ago i owned the only set of Kharma Exquisite 1Ds in the world and i am wondering just how you have such extensive experience with them to be sure they are "not a great speaker" and that some mys...

Kevin, if your friend has $15k Tenors, they are the 15 watt versions that you are comparing to your 90 watt Lamm ML1s. depending on the speakers you are using, your result is not too surprising.the 15 watt versions are designed for the Lamhorns (1...
Amp shootout.....Tenor 75wi verses Berning ZH270
Allan, the real issue to me is how do i as a music lover get the closest to the music. what products will allow me to remove barriers in the musical reproduction chain and allow me as complete musical enjoyment as possible.my opinion is that an OT...

Allan, i accept your challenge....i live in the Seattle area....this should be more of a fair fight....which the above was most definitely not.let me know what i can do to assist setting this up.and Albert, i agree the best part was the great vinyl.
What is the most decadent, most self indulgent--
David, i had been on the lookout for a "good" copy of this lp for awhile, $225 was very self-indulgent, but the record just flat makes me smile and remember back when.........if you are ever in the Seattle area come on over and listen to it with me.
What is the most decadent, most self indulgent--
it might be any of four different choices......maybe it is the Transparent Opus MM speaker cable ($23500 list) or maybe the Kharma Exquisite 1Ds ($70000 list) or maybe my Wind's stylus guage ($650 list) or maybe the Linn CD-12 ($20000 list)..........
Opinions on Marantz SA1 SACD CD Player
the Marantz SA-1 is a good to very good cd player....about on par with $3k to $5k cdps. if you modify the SA-1 you will raise the cd performance to near-reference quality....this can cost you $2k+. your total investment would be in line with the p...
Power cord to use on Marantz SA-1 SACD player ?
my Vegas hangover.....all these damn acronyms and so few brain cells. ;^)
Power cord to use on Marantz SA-1 SACD player ?
as Mes said, i prefer the EPS (Elrod power system) cords to my previous reference the Shunyata King Cobra v.2 and the new Python on the Marantz SA-1. the differences are not huge but they are definite to my ears. the SA-1 is very hi-resolution and...
Why no threads on OTL amps?
those comments were in Positive Feedback in the letter's section a few years back.....he and Gizmo were going at it good as i recall.....i have the issue....will dig it out later.
Hydra-what cords do you use to your components?
EPS-3 from the wall to the Hydra, and EPS-2 to the Linn CD-12 and Marantz SA-1; EPS-3 to the phono stage. EPS (Elrod Power System) from David Elrod.
Why no threads on OTL amps?
this is not about words, but about performance. i am another fanatical Tenor owner. so far in my experience, the Tenor easily out-performs ANY other amp in my system (or any system with reasonably OTL friendly speakers).i would love to hear ANY am...
