Any reliability horror stories out there? Hi Rob, glad you enjoyed it. ;-) BTW, the amps in question were only turned on prior to listening (30-60 minutes). Sorry to hear about your other problems. Luckily they were all minor!
Thiel CS 1.6 vs ProAc speakers vs ? Given your system and tastes a set of Vandersteen Model 2Ce Signatures would be your best choice IMHO. See the recent threads on them for more details compared to Thiel, etc.Good luck!Michael
Vandersteen 2Ce with Jolida 302B? Hi everyone, here are some answers to your questions:* 2Ce Signatures base price is on the web site as noted above. Add for the stands and any optional wood finish to get to the dealers price.* The 3A Signatures sound more extended at the frequenc...
Any reliability horror stories out there? The worst I know of: A friend had 5...count them...5 Audio Research Reference 600 amps blow up. You know... flames and sparks, oh my! They nearly killed him twice. True story.
Calling on Vandersteen 5a owners Hi Bruce, Good luck. I think that you'll like the Quatros quite a bit. You should have your local Vandersteen dealer find out about the wood version of the speaker. I'd happily put it up against the Avalons any day. Cheers, Mike
Calling on Vandersteen 5a owners Hi Bruce, I understand. Does this mean going away from a floor standing speaker entirely? If you can stay with a floor stander you may want to consider the Quatro. It will take up a lot less space and sound almost as good as a pair of 5s. Plus, th...
Calling on Vandersteen 5a owners Hi Machine, As Will so aptly said above the 5A upgrade is a pretty comprehensive upgrade. I wrote about it in my System notes so you may want to look there. I also noted some significant enhancement in the highs to go along with the mid and bass c...
Calling on Vandersteen 5a owners Bruce, I'm sorry to see you have to do something different than Model 5s. I agree with Steve that you should keep them and upgrade to 5As. It's a stunning upgrade. If that won't work there may be one good option if you can get one. The only ...and...
Calling on Vandersteen 5a owners Hi Rob, great choice on your speakers! I vote for the gloss unless you like to see and feel the wood grain on the speaker. They're pretty different finishes IMHO. As for amps, you should add the BEL 1001 to your short list. Nothing I've heard come...
Comparison of $11,000 - $15,000 reference speakers You need to audition the Vandersteen Quatros and 5As. They're both giant killers and should mate well with your equipment and room. I look forward to seeing what you think after you've auditioned them.Good luck...and don't forget to have fun! ;-)
What do you think of APJ's new Watch Dog 21 Hi guys, thanks for your responses! I hope you all had a Happy Halloween too!!Cheers, Michael
A good amp to drive my B&W Matrix 800's You cannot go wrong with a new BEL 1001 Mk V for that money. It's the best I've ever heard and will blow away most other amps at any price. If you're interested let me know where you live and I'll see if there's a local dealer for you.Good luck!
Best SS Amp with tight clean bass Find a used BEL 1001 Mk II. It's the best bass amp in the world. If the speaker is capable of it, you'll hear it.Good luck!
Speakers for 80s rock? Tough choice...do you want it to sound like a concert? If so, Cerwin Vega! If you want to hear what they put down on the recording then you should get Vandersteens. Both are completely different, but fun, speakers.Cheers!
BEST LOW VOLUME FULL RANGE SPEAKERS? If you want truly full range at low volumes you should try the new Vandersteen Quatro. It's amazing! You'll have the ability to tune the bass to your preference in addition to getting the best imaging and natural sound possible for the price.Good ... |
