Fixing a broken Tube
That portion of the tube will not get hot enough to effect the repair.
Fixing a broken Tube
As long as the tube is otherwise OK. Get a very thin formulation of Cyanoacrylate glue like https://www.cagcom/HS-4-bHot-Stuff-2ozb-thin-CA-glue_p_11.htmllue. Align the post back together tight and place a drop of glue right on the fracture line. ...
Recommendations for upgrade
Hi bobag, Yvette’s are $25,000. You might want to audition Magnepan 20.7s and Soundlabs Audiophile 545s. Both are excellent with the kind of music you like and will give you a more articulate more life sized image. The Yvette’s and S3s are both ex...
Metal cabinet speakers
Unsound, I am only referring to the positioning of the drivers. Done this way the drivers are acting acoustically as one driver through the entire pass band, an almost perfect point source. Whether or not you use a 1st, 2nd or 3rd order cross and ...
Recommendation for detailed/analytical bookshelf speaker?
You will not get what you are looking for out of a bookshelf speaker. What you really want are Quads or smaller Magnepans like the new LRS. At 650/or they have to be the speaker value of the decade.
BookShelf or Floor Standing Speakers
sttt, you might want to take a listen to Harbeth Monitors. If you want more volume and efficiency Klipsch Heresys.
Preamp suggestions
mecryn, Canare is Japanese. They make great commercial cable. I use DA 206 for all my AES/EBU cables and for all my long low level signal cable. They also make the best RCAs you can buy. Indestructible!

kenjit, it is easy to build passive cross overs. First class parts are ready available and the math is not that complicated but unless you stay first order phase coherence and efficiency matching drivers with various impedance curves without adequ...
Preamp suggestions
Older preamps can be difficult as even the best switches and pots wear out, sooner or later depending on the environment they were in. Parasound makes great preamps in several different price categories and it is a large stable company likely to b...
Want a new amp but what to get?
Benchmark AHB2. If you want more power you can buy another down the line and strap them. I do not own this amp but I have had them in my system and I do use Benchmark’s ADC. Benchmark is a commercial electronics manufacturer and their pricing is l...
Musicians in your living room vs. you in the recording hall?
There it is prof, the game is making a system recreate that “richness” of what you hear live, from the visceral impact of a rock concert to the timbral expression of a string quartet. Very few systems can do this for a multitude of reasons from ba...
Sound quality vs. volume
Glupson, actually our ears will tolerate 100 dB just fine as long as you get there correctly. Start off at 85 dB and go up in 5 dB increments every five minutes. This gives your stapedius muscles time to clamp down on the occicles, the three littl...
Dynavector XX2 mk2 vs Lyra DELOS which is better?
Don't apologize for being right lewm.
Sound quality vs. volume
Great wanderingmoo, I'd love an explanation for that username. Anyway, those speakers are quite capable of a clean 110 dB with the right amp in your room. Subs will increase your headroom and lower distortion in the mid bass but do not bother unti...
Metal cabinet speakers
jon is right. Look what Magico has to do to quiet things down. These guys must love to do CNC machining. That would be the only reason to make speakers that way, YG also. Great speakers if you can afford them.Wilson's solution of using composites ...
