Carver, THE standard of excellence IMO
Having owned and enjoyed a Fuzzlinear 700B for many years I guess entitles me to make a comment or two. I never managed to destroy that amp. I sold it because the next pair of speakers I bought had their own built in amps and I could not afford to...
Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 Opinions?
Yes, the higher end Sonus Fabers are stunning loudspeakers, the lower end not so much. It is cheaper to build things here in the States so you get more for your money. How ever for $1000 why not. Soix2 you have to be careful evaluating mid bass as...
High & low pass with subs?
Always use a high pass filter on the satellites. You decrease cone movement on the woofers and lower their distortion. The problem here is you are mixing and matching woofers and cross overs. Just because both cross overs are 4th order 80Hz does n...
Looks vs. Performance - How would you mix and match?
Not to mention they are plastic:( The old Marantz face plates started out champagne then got darker as they aged. I remember taking off all the knobs and cleaning mine after I picked it up (7C). What a difference between that and a Dyna PAS 3x.
Speaker Help?
Good Luck! Mike
Carver 275 Crimson tube amp --- any feedback appreciated
Whitestix what does it matter anyway. All us 65 year olds are deaf as a door nob. You got cataracts yet? My first year on Medicare has broken both Uncle Sam's an my bank.We joke about the Fuzzlinear 700 but I had one and at the time it was insanel...

Looks vs. Performance - How would you mix and match?
Yeh skyscraper they need to get with it. Those of us with theaters want everything in black to avoid reflections. Even ARC does their stuff in black now.
Looks vs. Performance - How would you mix and match?
thecarpathian, I wish. My grandmother's was an older one with flowers painted on a big horn. The original horn loudspeaker connected directly to the needle!
Air Tight PC-1 Coda and more options to upgrade my analog setup
You can make a light tonearm work with any cartridge just by adding weight until you get the right resonance frequency. Having said that I think the Lyra is more appropriate for a Rega turntable as long as you have a descent phono stage. So now yo...
Speakers and record Storage dilemma
If you put the shelves up against the wall they are going to be in an area of increased bass. I suppose as long as they do not buzz it would be OK. Unless they are going to cover a large percentage of the front wall they will not act as a wall. If...
Speaker Help?
Elizabeth and millercarbon are right toss em and move on. You are just heading into heartbreak hotel.
Looks vs. Performance - How would you mix and match?
I just always wanted a Victrola never mind stuffing anything into it. My grand mother had one and in spite of my insistence that I inherit it it dissipated into the ozone:(  I was only 5 years old. Anyway I always loved the look of old Marantz stu...
Searching for matching(?) Subwoofer solution
Hey Hans, I live 15 miles north of you in Atkinson NH, just across the border. Your speakers are only 6 feet apart so although I would prefer two subs one better sub with an eye towards getting a second in the future would be better than two cheap...

Oh and Daveyf I have SOTA Cosmos with a Kuzma 4 point 9 on it as well as an SME 30/12 with a 4 point 11 along with a multitude of cartridges. If I can save someone the misery of buying an LP 12, even a used one I am a happy guy. You are better off...
