High Efficiency Loudspeakers
Bache, it all depends on how the cone was made and what species of wood was used. If the horn is made too thin the wood will resonate like a musical instrument but thicker cross sections of a medium density wood like teak would be very well dampen...
Why are my woofers pumping?
Good luck o-holter. I do have a soft spot for that cartridge. It is totally unbeatable for things like string quartets and not bad at all for rock.
On the hunt for the "just right" turntable lamp-ideas, and where to find 'em?
Dan, You can wire a wall wart to it if you are so inclined.
Dipping my toe in
Wonderful! My first TT was a TD 124 with and SME on it. Fond memories. I think the Kef's are a little more efficient than 85 dB no?Get it all set up and yell if you have a problem. Down the line if you get the itch you might want to make the jump ...
Unsolvable Woofer Pumping (Phono only)
Branden, I have heard some very incredible systems using small stand mount speakers with subwoofers. You do not need any more than a two channel system to run subwoofers. The amps and crossovers are usually built in. Sure, if you are itching to ge...
Perfect Path Technologies
I turned all my tubes so they faced Mecca and darn if the speakers did not start bowing down. Incredible site to see. My wife saw it too! Really guys. I had a whole house surge protector installed with my brand new Generac. It cost me $789.00. $49...
Unsolvable Woofer Pumping (Phono only)
Branden, the woofers in any speaker including subwoofers will still dance to the rumble but with a larger driver in a sealed cabinet it will be much less noticeable at moderate volumes anyway. All records have some rumble built in. You may notice ...
Pass Labs and Fuses
Geoffkait with two f's. Do you ever say or do anything useful? This is a rhetorical question that can not be reasonable answered in English. Any one here speak Mandarin? Geoffkait , you need to audition for a Quentin Tarantino movie.
Pass Labs and Fuses
Boy this is fun. George and Wolf hang on. These guys are talking a bunch of innocents into wasting their money on silly fuses and other misc JUNK. We are on the right side of history. Thinking that a fuse is going to make a difference is s___y and...
Unsolvable Woofer Pumping (Phono only)
And Branden the low frequency limit is 55 Hz because the woofers are too small to have any significant output below that that you can hear. It does not mean that they do not try to follow the waveform below 55Hz. They will unless you have a low pa...
Unsolvable Woofer Pumping (Phono only)
Branden, this is called rumble. It is worse in your instance because of your speaker's design, little ported woofers. The enclosures are designed to push those little woofers as low as they can go. The end result is that they have to move farther ...
VTA Cartridge
Audiosens, If the front face is perpendicular to the mounting surface then yes, you can use it as a reference. VTA is not all that critical. All you have to do is get in the ballpark (contrary to mythological opinion.) Azimuth is way more importan...
Cana anyone recommend a plastic wrench that doesn'e scratch the metal?
Once you know what size you need go on line to Snap-On and order the appropriate sized open ended wrench. Their wrenches are entirely polished and chromed. They will not scratch anything. Just be prepared to spend a bit more on them.
Mmmm Crow tastes good...
#1 rule of ultimate high fidelity is, get your butte out of the apartment.Don't bother spending a lot of money on equipment while you are in an apartment. You can't use it. Save the money for getting out of the apartment. The single most important...
Cat jumped on turntable
ASV, one wife is enough.
