Low volume listening dynamics
jriggy, in short no. Some people here on definitely on the right track. This is a moving target and there are many variables that are difficult to control. The most difficult one is the recording itself. Some records sound good at low levels other...
... How to select tubes for line level preamp ...
insearchof, The most important characteristic of a tube is noise. There is a lot of variability between tubes even of the same manufacturer. Noisier tubes decrease dynamic range and can interfere with quiet passages.RAM Labs tests their tubes indi...
Fuses in the 3 speed SME PSU
No I did not vusi, but SME overbuilds their equipment and I trust their engineers not to do anything that would downgrade their performance especially something as silly as a cheap fuse.Audiophiles are constantly looking for relatively inexpensive...
Will Lyra Delos get Lambda upgrade?
Yes please, I would not mind knowing what upgrading an Atlas SL would cost. I am not sure the lower range cartridges will be upgraded. It will increase the cost and I would think Lyra would want certain characteristics to distinguish the upper ran...

Fuses in the 3 speed SME PSU
vusi, I hate to be a killjoy but unless one of them is blown changing those fuses is not going to do anything but waste your money. Go guy some music! I have a 30/12 by the way.Mike
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
I should also note that I have never used digital correction with a point source system. I have to believe that subwoofer integration would be easier and better. Although I thick you could get away with a higher crossover the benefit would be ques...
How does adding a second subwoofer improve your systems SQ?
Atmasphere, in general I agree with what you say with point source speakers that are not digitally corrected and time alligned. However when it comes to linear arrays particularly tall ESL dipoles the situation changes somewhat. If the subwoofer s...

Troubleshooting occasional popping from solid state amp?
Identify which channel is involved. If it is both you have a power supply problem. I doubt a cold solder joint as that would have caused trouble a long time ago. I'd be more inclined to look at capacitors. You can replace them yourself by getting ...
