I have 3 more product to do my listening tests on (sorry Geoff another one came in that I have to do) and then I’m going to do Geoff’s NDM. I’ll do a thread on TuneLand once I get rolling. There’s two clear sides to this hobby that I started a thr...
Krell XD gear in the House Initial Impressions
Yep, I thought the readership numbers would be off the charts, so was surprised.Just a couple of my personal thoughts. Keep in mind I see HEA as taking a major turn at the moment.1. People have mentioned the newer Krell look. I think Krell a coupl...
Will Technology Kill the Audiophile Hobby?
Well, I'm going to pull back a little here and mention the future "now" is coming on quickly. How quickly this forum may not even be aware. I believe the days of big amps is almost gone. To follow will be high mass speakers. The small Class D amps...
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
I was in this camp as well and believe it was the best sounding era of all up till the new Class D designs which have been a dream come true. From around 1993-recent (with the exception of a few) the sound of amps have been bland and smallish stag...

Will Technology Kill the Audiophile Hobby?
The future is pretty easy to figure out actually and some have already built it into their dwellings. Future versions of this will be more automated but the blueprint is already done. The between now and then is pretty cool too. As far as the big ...
Krell XD gear in the House Initial Impressions
I've been reading this thread with interest from the start. After 17 days I'm a little in shock that there has been only 2400 views. With the name "Krell" starting off this thread I was expecting much more in the way of posts and readers. I was ho...
Why the facination with integrated amps?
Isn't it fun watching the changes taking place in real time! How much simpler and better sounding our hobby (lifestyle) has become. I think we owe a lot of this to our audio forums. Before this magazines ruled our perception more than they should ...
Preserving the sound of the ultimate audio gear for future generations ...
Should probably also add this since it's a big deal for me. I am a one source listener. I don't hook up my systems with more than one input and usually only have one input (meaning one set of RCAs) period on the unit. I've always thought it funny ...
Preserving the sound of the ultimate audio gear for future generations ...
Red book CDs are by far my favorite source, especially for the type of listening I do. I'm not crazy about the first pass of any recording. I usually pay attention to a recording around the 3rd pass. For that reason I like Long Play and on repeat....
Recommendation on power amp
I'm glad to see newtoncr survive this thread lol. Good luck with your choices and have fun!Michael Green
Impressing friends with your rig
Oh Wow, we were very close dweller. I lived on National Golf Course for 3 years when I first moved here, Ottawa Dr. Now I'm on the other side of the Strip behind the Strat. How long ago did you move out of town?Yep, I love my Vegas town. Always sa...
Impressing friends with your rig
My system is a constant hang out for my friends inside and out. I moved to the Vegas strip a little over a year ago into a small apartment with an amazing view of the strip and blocks from the Convention Center (home of the CES). Now, I'm on my fo...
The truth about why modern music is so awful.
"So the burning question now for a true audiophile is obviously how accurately can your rig reproduce these modern recordings in question? At live-like volumes?"I believe this is the real point to be made and asked. I don't care much about the vol...
