MBL omnidirectional speakers. How do they sound ?
I heard the 101e's twice at shows and each time thought they were excellent but each time they were in larger rooms. I think they wouldn't work too well in a small room, they need a big room to really shine. But properly set up they are in my top ...
Greatest American Rock and Role Bands of ALL Time
I’m pretty sure Elvis has sold more albums than any other American artist on this list so far. I’m not even an Elvis fan but doesn’t that make him the greatest? For the record, he always traveled and played with a band.
Solid State preamp to mate with McIntosh MC-252 power amp
I would think in that price range you could pick up a nice Mac C200 and be very happy for a long time.

I have to disagree with the notion that manufacturers shouldn't service grey market goods. The manufacturers make the product and ship it to either one of their own distributors or dealers. If a distributor or dealer then turns around, and against...
Tekton 1812 ?
Very interesting design. They are showing at the New York Audio show this November, I hope they bring a pair, I would love to hear them.
Must speakers have certain volume to sound convincing ?
I definitely play my system louder, maybe just because I can, sometimes too loud. But I do remember way back when listening to my Pioneer HPM40's with my Pioneer turntable and Yamaha integrated in my late teens in my bedroom at much lower volumes ...

@whart - an advertisement in a print magazine - you are dating yourself there! But, I do remember those days very fondly :) - all good points, I just don’t understand their stance, just seems to me like Daveyf says, it’s just poor business practic...

@Whart - then the manufacturer needs better control of its distributors and dealers to avoid the products becoming grey market. Their issue is with their people, it shouldn't be with the people who use the products.

The OP wasn't asking for free service, he was willing to pay for the upgrade. Whart is correct if you are asking for warranty service. In the this case, however, the OP wasn't asking for that, he was willing to pay for the upgrade. There's a big d...

Guess they just don't need or want your business!

@Charles: I think in those circumstances, they should have a problem not with an eventual end user, but rather with their dealers. If they only sell to authorized dealers and they track their serial numbers, they will know exactly what dealer that...

soundsrealaudio - you posed the question: 'Should the dealer or manufacture offer the same degree of service to that person and at that same "reasonable price." I think not". I think I have to disagree. The manufacturer should support its product...

+1 @ inna - and I think most manufacturers are willing to do that.
Pre-amp better than Sonic Frontiers
A lot is going to depend on your budget. I had a line 1 awhile back and in taking to Kean Deal at Upscale Audio, he had suggested some NOS Ediswan tubes for that preamp and they really did make a nice improve in sound. However, I upgraded to an AR...
Vintage Marantz Repairs
Thanks guys. I was thinking it was probably due for a good cleaning but was also thinking the parts are getting pretty old and it really needs to be looked at by a qualified tech. I have been to Audio Connection once a few years back and they seem...
