parasound hca-1205a stay in protect I run an HCA-855a and when it is cold it usually triggers the protect relay one time..... After a 5 minute warm up it never happens again. Suggest you locate the protect relay within and give it a light tap to see if it disengages.....
Are Bang and Olufsen turntables any good? Have to say.... The 4002's I have restored and sold always make the buyer gasp when they see it. Truly elegant design.... Just upgraded my 4002's cartridge from the MMC20EN to the MMC20CL. Wow! I did not think this turntable could be improved upon...
Cassettes still rock! I listen to LPs at home for a number of reasons. Do I care that my LPs are not "digitized" and portable? Nah.... That's what Napster was for back in the day and what ripping CDs is for today.... Sound quality and the material in the LP jacket are ...
Cassettes still rock! I recently restored a Nakamichi BX-2 (built in Japan) and cannot believe how good it sounds. It replaced a Kenwood double well deck that sounded mediocre in comparison.... Tapes from long ago still sound as good as they did back in the day. LP tra...
Do any still use an older high end tuner from the past?.... I run a NAD 4150. It is probably the cleanest tuner I have ever used.
Are Bang and Olufsen turntables any good? Regarding the "missing stylus"...... That person's stylus wasn't there because they likely used a typical "stylus cleaning solution"..... B&O stylus cannot be cleaned with fluids as they will destroy the bond of the diamond to the cantilever.T...
Why the woofer moves badly when playing certain LPs Use of a Subsonic filter or a preamp with one built in is almost a MUST when playing LPs. Subsonic filters were created specifically to remove that low end rumble and they work well. Just my two cents worth.
Love it when it snows Millercarbon is correct. We are now exiting what was a Grand Solar Maximum.....Anyone here care to look up the term Grand Solar Minimum? It is what we are heading into now.....Hence the INCREASE in polar cap ice recently.I'm old enough to remember ...
Hidden Gems in Pre-Owned Solid State Power Amplifiers? Parasound HCA series. John Curl design. Still sounds like magic. From early 90’s and can be had for a bargain.
Subwoofer rumble issue I’ve solved that feedback problem on many turntables by dampening the plinth.
Has anyone seen this? A really beautiful turntable Wow, what a JOKE that is!!! That much wobble is considered acceptable? I cannot imagine the damage being done to the record and the entire cartridge..... What a waste of time and money. For nearly "silent" operation, choose a good belt drive......
Subwoofer rumble issue If your current setup (preamp/receiver) has an "infrasonic" filter, it is the same thing. I'm guessing the turntable is a direct drive? Usually direct drive turntables aren't as isolated from the base as they could be..... Subsonic/infrasonic filt...
Looking for A Cost Effective Phono Amp- Any suggestions?" My two cents........ NAD makes an excellent phono amp. Very reasonably priced and they sound fantastic.
The term "High End" needs to die. Long live Hi-Fidelity! When i was a kid there was a magazine called Audio....which I absorbed during the late 70’s and early 80’s.......Was an unbelievably "inviting" magazine with a great format and feel. I learned a lot from it and it supplied me with a knowledge base...
The Golden era of Japanese integrated amps, are we missing out? I have an Onkyo A-7040 running my office system. Fantastic sound and TWO MM Phono inputs! It is a beast but only rated at 50 WPC. Very high quality build from 1980, right before Onkyo went “sideways”..... |
