Persona 9h vs S3 mk 2
It's not that simple. This active bass is driven by a DSP, class D amp, set up. That means that your bass signal is digitized (and it is playing into the midrange, with a delayed signal). It introduces all sort of audible issues. To my ears, britt...
The best speaker for a small room...at any price point.
’Ringing’ dome?Magico new tweeters definitely don’t ring, not in sound and not in measurements. In fact most “soft” domes will harden much faster, and will sound quite nasty at high SPL. The M2 highs were sublime in Munich.
Anyone hear Vivid Audio Speakers? Considering Vivid Giya G1 Series 2 from Magico S5 MKII
More like what I am experiencing: https://www.monoandstereo.com/2019/05/magico-a3-speakers-review.html
Anyone hear Vivid Audio Speakers? Considering Vivid Giya G1 Series 2 from Magico S5 MKII
May I ask what electronics were driving the A3?
Anyone hear Vivid Audio Speakers? Considering Vivid Giya G1 Series 2 from Magico S5 MKII
It was me who deleted the post, I had a spelling mistake. In any case, we must have different priorities, as I truly don’t share your findings. I am very familiar with the Harbeths , and find them colored, and less extended when compared to the A3,...
Anyone hear Vivid Audio Speakers? Considering Vivid Giya G1 Series 2 from Magico S5 MKII
@prof My finding is the exact opposite of yours (I own the A3). The A3 DO NOT do the usual "audiophile" trait, and that is probably what you are missing (Your preferences seems to be of speakers with boosted highs/lows – almost like a loudness b...
first impressions of Magico A3's
Been enjoying mine for a couple of months now. A taste of the "real deal" for a bargain price (if €12K can be called a bargain - but in comparison...). And they keep getting better; they take a long time to break-in.
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels
Did not hear the Yamaha, so can’t comment. I believe the Persona was driven with Pass electronics, which are typically very sweet (It was so bad, I did not bother to explore further). I am not a big fan of DSP, so my preferences may be different t...
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels
I am surprised you liked the Persona, I audition them, here in Germany (I believe Magico and Paradigm share distributor). They were so bright, glossy and coarse, and the bass was out of tune, don't know why would anyone prefer them to the A3 (or t...
Magicos are chesty
Don't know about any of that...  They were marvelous in a small room, very close to the back wall, with the smallest Spectral. I was also told that they sound magic with the Octave V110 integrated (110 W), albeit very different sound from the Spec...
Magicos are chesty
@erik_squires The S1 I listen to was in a small room with the Spectral Stereo DMA 240, hardly a monster. I don't understand why you conclude that they need a big space and a big amp. I only heard the S3 in Munich show couple of years ago, it was a...
Magicos are chesty
I spent few hours on Saturday listening to the S1 Mk2 on a full Spectral system. Truly was a treat, I couldn’t fault it on anything but full orchestral pieces (and the price, very expensive setup). It was amazing, the liquidity off these speakers ...
Magico A3
Interesting, I think that the Sopra tweeters are much coarser then the A3.Did you listen to the Sopra on the same equipment? Roon always sound harsh and glossy to me. With such a transparent speaker like the A3 you would hear it clearly. I agree t...
Magico A3
The A3 low bass is incredibly linear and deep, a big improvement over anything else I audition under 20K. Plenty of toe-tapping in my living room ;)You just need to pair them right, it does take a system to make it all work.
Magico A3 vs. Joseph Audio Perspective vs. Spendor D9
Hard to imagine what people are hearing. I always regarded Spender as a mid-fi product. I think that the Dynaudios at that price range are much better speakers and the Magico A3 is in a completely different league altogether then the Dayns.
