Not a ground loop hum???
Completely forgot to provide an update on the situation with my MR1200. Well, after trying it out in our new house and hearing the same level of noise, I sent the power conditioner back to Blue Circle, paid for shipping and about $60 for the filte...
No one cares this is the anniversary?
Albert,Thank you for this thread, which I have come across somewhat belatedly. My great-uncle (mother's side) was in the British Navy and captained a landing vessel on D-Day, among other things during WWII. He wrote a book about his experiences a ...
Preamp Deal of the Century
Hi,I've been reading this thread on and off for a while now and am considering taking the leap to a Chardonnay preamp. Currently, my system comprises: Anthem CD1 (with a single 6922), Blue Circle BC21.1 tube preamp (pair of 6922's), Blue Circle BC...
Zu Cable & Loudspeakers East Coast Speaker Demo
Wow, it's great to hear the impressions of others regarding this company's products. Last Fall, I took the leap of faith Trelja mentions and purchased a pair of Zu's Rune loudspeakers ($2,000) and have been very pleased with their performance. I a...
Question on KEF speakers
It appears to me that Kef has been trying to make a modest comeback over the last couple of years, with re-designed and expanded product lines. The Q-series are a very good deal IMHO. I was very pleased with my Q5's until I caught the upgrade bug,...
I have a confession to make
My experience has been different. I discussed/negotiated with my better-half in terms of how much I would spend on getting a new/upgraded stereo system. Although I have ended up spending a little more than originally agreed and despite occasional ...
Buzzing in Exactpower SP15
Interesting topic. I have a Blue Circle MR1200 balanced power line conditioner/distributor and it too has a tendency to buzz/hum audibly. The noise appears at intervals of between 15 to 30 minutes, it starts out low and increases in volume over ab...
Not a ground loop hum???
Sean, the MR1200 does indeed convert the AC from the wall into balanced power provided at its outlets. Are you saying that it should not hum regardless of how dirty the incoming AC may be? That was my assumption when I purchased the piece, given t...
Pat Metheny Group Fans....Speaking of Now on DVD
My brother has told me a couple of stories about Pat Metheny and how he is really down-to-earth, humble and genuinely appreciative of his fans (of which I am one). The latest story from my bro' is that he noticed Pat in the audience at a Keith Jar...
Not a ground loop hum???
I had sent an e-mail to Blue Circle and the response was as Brooks1 and Sean have indicated. Balanced power outlets will indeed show reversed hot and neutral or other icorrect wiring, because there is 60V coming from the neutral and 60V coming fro...
Not a ground loop hum???
Just thought I'd provide an update. I checked the outlets on the MR1200 power conditioner with the polarity-checker-plug, which indicates the hot and neutral are reversed for all three duplexes. Arrrrgh! So, do I open up this $750US piece of equip...
Not a ground loop hum???
Sean:Once again, you have proven to be 'da man! That's exactly the thread I had in mind. Looks like I've got some work to do. Thanks very much for your valuable input and advice.MaxPS... I'm not offended in the least. The US and Canada, despite re...
Not a ground loop hum???
Sean:Your realisation is correct, eh?! But I appreciate the humour, so no harm done. Pbb may indeed be quite ardent at times, but it probably has more to do with a feeling of inferiority due to living next to such a big and powerful and awe-inspir...
Nora Jones new CD -- Copy Protection -- YIKES
FWIW and IMHO, it's not really a bonus track if the artist wrote and/or arranged the tune, recorded it and intended to release it along with the rest of the tunes on the album. Just a ploy by the marketing-heads at the labels to make the consumer ...
Not a ground loop hum???
Thanks very much for the responses!!!The IC's in the system: the pair from cdp to pre and the pair from the pre to amp are both essentially outside the equipment rack and neither of them comes very close to a component's chassis. The IC from tuner...
