Best speaker in the $4-6k range. Sonus Faber pairs well with Krell. I've seen used Extrema's on this site in that price range, they would sound great.
turntable mat- helpful, harmful, or doesn't matter Don't worry about any smooth surface scratching your records, all the information is down in the grooves. If you're caught in a sandstorm, wait 'til it passes and wipe the platter before you place another record, however. If your tonearm is flat, y...
PayPal Question. Good luck getting Pay Pal to fix anything. They wouldn't respond to e-mails or phone calls in two instances with me. I wont use them for either end of a transaction.
Speaker List I've only heard mini monitors from the Silverline brand, but they were forgiving in placement, and sounded very nice. At least some models use Dynaudio drivers. Worth a listen.
UPS strikes again I brought a package to Staples in Pittsburgh marked "Fragile" and the clerk told me her friend at UPS said never to do that, as it marks the package for special destruction. Apparently some of the handlers are unsupervised and angry at their custo...
What's under YOUR CD player? I have DH cones under and a Shakti stome on top, it helped my Karik.
Real Stinkers I nominate Rickie Lee Jones 'Ghostyhead'
Krell KAV 300i I have had a 300i for six years. It's been on for about 5 and a half years with no problems whatsoever. I've used it to drive Sonus Faber Minuetto, Concerto, and Electa Amator I speakers thru single single and double runs of OCOS cable. My sources...
Any affordable intergrateds known for huge sound? I have enjoyed both of my Krell KAV 300i integrateds. They go for around 1100 used and through a variety of Sonus Faber speakers have done a fine job for me. With a Synergistiac Research power cable you can even kick it up a notch when you are rea...
Words From the Wise There is someone out there enjoying just about every audio device made. If you enjoy it, it's a good choice.Correct placement of your speakers makes a bigger difference than many dollars. Experiment, it's free and it gets you off the couch.I would...
Speakers that are matched well with Krell I've paired my KAV 300i with 3 models of Sonus Faber and have been well pleased with all. The only difference was how many strands of OCOS speaker wire worked the best. I am using the Concerto Home currently and am enjoying a particularly nice sou...
vocal music for a newbie I have been enjoying the works of Chanticleer, an a cappella ensemble released on Teldec. There are many recordings to choose from. My personal favorite is Palestrina: Missa pro defunctis - Motets. If your system has good imaging this recording wi...
Biwiring: can you really hear the difference? I have two-way speakers with two inputs. Single wire was good. Doubling the run was a lot better. Keeping the double run connected to one set of output terminals at the amp end, removing the metal jumper clip at the speaker end terminals and conne...
Smallest Bookshelf Speaker Worth Listening To I'm really enjoying my Silverline SP12's. A tad over 6" wide by 8" deep and about 10" high. The imaging is excellent and the sound can be absolutely striking on some recordings. There is a rear port however which may be a consideration if you real...
Majik/Genki vs Classik I'm running a Classik with Silverline SP12's and two runs of OCOS wires and it's a great sounding combination. I particularly like the ability to hear all the music at lower as well as higher volumes. As I am working a contract away from home it's... |
