Looking for good match to Cayin TA-30 I previously owned a TA-30 and paired it with Totem Arros in a 12'x14' room. Another option would be one of the monitors from the Opera line, such as the Mezza.
Best tube integrated? anyone know? I can't say whether it's the best as I haven't directly compared with others you have lsited, but I'm listening to the Triode TRV-35SE as I write this and am really enjoying it. This unit has EH 6CA7s and NOS front end tubes which are a welcome im...
Budget speaker $600 or under recommendations A used pair of Usher S-520 speakers and a pair of decent stands fit into your budget. They have been my standby speaker choice for years now.
Tube vs. Solid State Rectifier My general preference from DIYing a few preamplifier and amplifier combinations has been to use a tube rectifier in the pre and ss in the amp. This has struck a nice balance between the warmth of tubes and the perceived speed and "snap" of ss. Of ...
Would classic klipsch work here? I'd recommend that you investigate inexpensive tubed integrated amplifiers if you are interested in a pair of Klipsch Heritage series speakers. I don't own the newer series, but do have Klipsch Chorus and Quartet speakers in my home and they have ...
Intergrated amp for Totem Sttaf I'd recommend the Simaudio i-3. You should be able to find one well under your budget. I owned one and used it with Totem Arros, but also listened briefly to it powering Sttafs. I thought they complimented each other nicely.
matching the Arros I used a SimAudio i-3, Cayin TA-30, and Rogue Perseus/Stereo 90 with the Arros. All were nice matches, but I preferred to power them with tubes.
Anyone recommend a neutral tube amp? Based on my experience, I would recommend you audition Rogue Audio's Tempest II. I went from Simaudio's i-3 to Rogue separates, the Perseus and the Stereo 90. I found the Rogue combo added more texture and dimension to the music while being "more ...
Best amp under 1k for Soliloquy 5.0s I don't have much experience with the 5.0, but I own a pair of 5.3 which I really enjoyed with a Cayin TA-30. I did try a few SS options, the favorite of those being a SimAudio Moon i-3, but I kept going back to tubes. In your price range, I would...
speaker wood care I have also used Howard's Feed and Wax on my speakers with nice results.
What is the best place to buy tubes? I have had great experiences buying from Jim McShane and Brendan at Tube World. Both are highly reputable sellers who know tubes.
Inexpensive integrated to drive Klipsch I agree with the others above - tubes are definitely the way to go with Klipsch speakers. I've been using various 6BQ5/EL84 based amplifiers with my Klipsch Quartets and I couldn't come up with a bad combination. I think a JoLida JD-102B would be ...
Looking for a warm budget monitors??? A used pair of Spendor SP3/1P should fit witin you budget.
Jolida 502A - Other owners, what speakers? I used a Planet 2000 and a 502 to power a pair of Magnepan MMGs in a small room. I later replaced the MMGs with Soliloquy 5.3s, while not as open as Magnepans, were also a good match.
Monitors for Sim integrated I agree with the Totem recommendation, specifically the Model One Signatures. |
