TT Arm-base Unipivot vs Gimbal-base Designs...
Yes, a lot of care to the beatings . . . but also to the bearings.  Sorry for the typo.
TT Arm-base Unipivot vs Gimbal-base Designs...
Uni-pivot arms have zero friction. Period. That is their principal advantage. Gimbal designs have to be made with much care to the beatings, and with enough care (and expense) the friction can be made so low as not to matter. No doubt but that bot...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@kishan  It's been argued here, and elsewhere, that the Musetec can complement any home system.  If you go in that directiion please give us your impressions.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@kishan  Contact the company if you wish, but you may find that the designer/manufacturer runs a very small operation and marketing is not its strength.  I suggest that here on this thread there are many users, some with considerable technical e...
Quobuz subscription
Why don't you name a track or two so folks can tell you if it's you or Qobuz that is the problem.
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
@rauliruegas  I go regularly to concerts of un-amplified music.  I don't regard that a home music system is good because "I like it."  I regard it as good only to the extent that it reproduces acoustic music in real space as close as possible to ...
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm
There are too many people who have heard this arm and say that it is terrific, to write off this arm.  Just as in electronics, the ultimate test is your ears and not some measurement. This having been said, horizontal tracking angle error may be ...
Advise on buying electronics out of-the country
I believe I bought a $12,000 DAC from China for $3000. If the OP wants to pay the $12,000 it’s his privilege. I have purchased from Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and China over the years and have never paid a duty for shipment to me in the US. Many ye...
Advise on buying electronics out of-the country
I too have bought from all over the world without a problem.  My last large purchases from overseas were DACs from what is now branded as Musetec, the latest being the Musetec 005.  Much has been written about this DAC here on this board.  It's be...
Musetec Audio MH-DA005 ES9038 Pro x2 DAC VS the Lab12 dac1 reference Tube Hybrid Dac
Notwithstanding my respect for @yyzsantabarbara I disagree and find the Musetec 005 neutral, though I agree with slightly smooth. In that regard it is unlike the conventional wisdom of DACs using an ESS chip. It is, though, very revealing of the d...
SOTA Cosmos turntables
Perhaps you should take this over to "Analog."
VPI Scout 2 Tonearm
What are you looking to gain with a different arm? Have you considered the dual pivot accessory for your present arm?
DAC recommendations
I'm glad you put "accurate" in quotations. If you want a piano to sound like a piano, you might consider the Musetec 005.  There's been so much about it discussed here that I needn't elaborate.
New Mercury Living Presence Mastering
@rvpiano  You might want to look here and here for openers For an audiophile board discussing classical music, you're in the wrong place.
New Mercury Living Presence Mastering
This was discussed extensively on another board at the time of release. The consensus IIRC is that they are indistinguishable from the original CD releases supervised by Thomas’ mother. As such it was considered a disappointment. However, there ma...
