Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
@boxer12  I should have noted on my last post that to bring the D-Link DGS105 to its potential it needs a better power supply than supplied.  An iFi iPower 5v will do just fine.  Also, be sure to ground the unit using the screw on the back.

@boxer12 The switch that some of us use is more properly the D-Link DGS105.

A while back, I needed a long electric cable run for my amp. At the suggestion of a cable guru on another site I bought a long length of Viborg VP1606 5N OFC cable which was then available only as unterminated. I bought some good connectors and ma...
Perimeter Ring Clamps: Yay?, Nay?, Sources??
High quality stainless steel is not magnetic at all.  Cheap stainless steel usually is.
Perimeter Ring Clamps: Yay?, Nay?, Sources??
Many years ago when I came to understand the benefits of a peripheral ring, I was also worried about making a small mistake in placing the stylus on the record.  So I modified my set-up slightly and the stylus goes down perfectly each time.  I can...

@elliottbnewcombjr  I really have no dog in this fight, but I think you're making a mistake. As you can see if you follow the entire thread that you were referred to to the end, I found audiofool1982's post to be problematic. Have a look there. ...
Perimeter Ring Clamps: Yay?, Nay?, Sources??
A "yay" from me. I use an old TTW ring that weighs about 2.5 lbs. and would not be without it. It resolves any warp in a record (and more have a slight warp than is thought). It also adds flywheel to the platter which helps with speed stability a...

@americanspirit Thanks, but I’m very happy with what I have. I have a lot of music on a NAS and control it all with JRiver on a small laptop. I use either my phone or an Android pad to run it all. What I see on the screen are album covers arrang...

@americanspirit  It seems we were typing at about the same time. I have never used Roon, so others may have suggestions about your effective use of it. This digital stuff is an adventure.

@americanspirit Generally speaking a computer, like your Dell, is a noise machine and running USB straight out to a DAC is never advised. Sound will definitely be compromised. Some special "audio" computers (or mother boards) are offered (as rec...
How best to eliminate LP warps
All of this discussion about azimuth involving USB microscopes, test disks, oscilloscopes, Fozgometers, hour glasses, adjustment for each disk and such leaves me LOL. Better to put more faith in one’s hearing. Assuming you have easy adjustment fo...

@americanspirit Evaluation of audio electronics and cables by listening is not the best way. It’s the only way. Years ago I was a big fan of Supra cables. They were/are available in bulk at very reasonable prices in the US and I made up cables ...

@americanspirit I own a modified dx7 pro topping with OP Muses, a Gustrard x26 Pro and this week comes the MUSETC MH DA500. I will perform blind listening tests by connecting them via SUPRA USB2 0.7m cable to a mcintosh mc152 amplifier via OE...
What is this term 'analytical' ?
Several weeks ago I wrote a review of a DAC that was mostly about sound reproduction generally. It seems to touch very closely to the issues raised in this thread. As only one line of it refers to the DAC in question I think it’s OK to let it appe...

Any OP knows that after launching a thread into the air here it's impossible to account for what direction it may take.  Nevertheless, as this extensive thread is now one year old, permit this OP a few words.   The designer/manufacturer of this D...
