Excellent recording of Mozart Jupiter No.41 ?
Good heavens Buxter you are digging very deep into the archives, not only do I own no 78rpm but also no mono recordings, all my refernces are from stereo CD. I had the stereo Walter/CSO set which featured sym 35-41, this may no longer be available...
Excellent recording of Mozart Jupiter No.41 ?
I think we must draw out Buxter and perhaps Tweeker a bit more here. In general my favorite 41 is not with the older full orchestra versions: Walter, Bohm, Klemper, Karajan etc. I prefer the new smaller group recordings such as Saraste/Virgin, Glo...
Mozart Piano Concerto 21.
Yes start other threads to have more discussions on other works, it gets boring to talk about imaginary improvements we can barely detect with the latest 1K interconnect, and my CDP is better than your CDP because it costs more and has latest twea...
Mozart Piano Concerto 21.
I have 6-7 versions of concerto 21 including:PerahiaSchiffBrendelBilsonKovacevichJandoAshkenazyAlthough many of these are very good I am not entirely satisfied, and I think there is better version out there if I look a bit more. The Perahia/Sony w...
Excellent recording of Mozart Jupiter No.41 ?
I like the newer small group recordings better like Saraste/Virgin (2 CD set late symphonies budget price) orGlover/ASV etc have much clearer more agile perspective of sound which seem to suite Mozart better. The Walter, Bernstein, Bohm etc are a b...
Best recording Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 4
Yes the Michelangeli/EMI (Great Recordings) is probably first choice, the CD remaster by EMI using ART technology is very good. The Ravel coupling may not be what most people want however. The Wild/Chesky would make a good 2nd choice as well as off...
The best Carl Orff Carmina Burana?
Some smart person here mentioned this a while ago and I purchased Stokowski/EMI on CD, this is an excellent version and may be my top choice now.The Jochum/DG Originals is a great performance but the recording is brightly lit.Not sure if I mention...
What's under YOUR CD player?
CDP sets on Aurios 1.2 with bearing on top. Use Mapleshade brass heavyhats for tuning top of CDP.Still toying with the idea of floating entire audio rack on top of Aurios. The Sistrum approach is interesting giving you in effect a two pointed cone....
Where have the long-time regulars gone?
Carl Ebbers was the drama king with a lot of knowledge, too bad he felt it was necessary to launch personal attacks on a regular basis which led to his demise. Sluggo was an enigma, who would pop up out of nowhere stir up some trouble and then sli...
Kharma with or without grills: Am I crazy?
I always listen to my PSB speakers with grill cloth removed, and replace each night when done listening so it really is a dust cover for me. When in place it very slightly reduces treble extension. This can also be varied by speaker toe-in amount, ...
Is Remote Control Important?
Remote is essential.....why settle for less? Would you buy expensive HD widscreen TV with no remote feature?. Sit back enjoy your stereo from the comfort of you chair in complete control with your remote.
What size subwoofer to get?
Thanks for the helpful info, my system can be viewed by clicking system link by my name, my room is 14x22. I have PSB Silver-I and wanted a sub for 2 channel listening only as an alternative to upgrading to PSB Gold-I. As stated by others here I d...
which headphones???
For all around listening flexibility and comfort at a reasonable price the Sennheiser 600 is extremely hard to beat, I have tried most of the main contenders under $500. If you search internet you will find Senn 600 for @$250 new, they must be dri...
link between speaker and floor
I also like Aurios under floor standing speakers, I am using Aurios 1.2 model. If you want to change tone slightly warmer place wood block under Aurios or thin dense cork pad. This sounds much better to me vs any cone system I have used. I am sure...
Should preamp be left turned on?
Agree with majority, for solid state pre-amp leave on 24/7 unless bad storm coming then power off & unplug entire system. Most SS pre-amps consume under 20 watts so cost of power is not an issue.I might add my advice is for system with some so...
