40-50w tube amp for Aerial 9
Shredder, I don't think the amps impedance changes. You would need to look at the impedance graph for your specific speaker. Maybe you can contact Aerial for help, they also might make a recommendation. Or you can contact Dehavilland and tell them...
Need preamp recommendation
Jylee, if you replace the 12AX7 with 5751 tubes they are 70% less gain. Also Andy @ Vintage Tube Services does an excellent job with low noise tubes.
40-50w tube amp for Aerial 9
There are several tube amps like VAC, Manley or McIntosh that will work well with low impedance speakers. As to Dehaviland I have no experience and suggest you call the manufacture. To see if a tube amp would work with the Aerial 9 speaker you wou...
processor that could serve as a good preamp
I have been using a Meridian processor for 8 years with no problems. Also would recommend EAD for very high quality and low price plus Noble electronics can do any repairs. Or you could go with a low cost denon surround receiver.
Integrating tube amp with HT
I run separate speaker wires for my tube amd and home theater amp and switch cables.
What is the best way to add a 5:1 system
If Stereo is you main concern, I would purchase a surround receiver for listening to movies and save your equipment for stereo. It can get very expensive trying to do 5 channels of high quality sound just to watch movies.
Tube Amp Noise with Klipsch Cornwall II
Call Rogue and find out which small tubes are in the gain stage, this would affect the hiss in the speakers the most. Then do as TVAD & Rodman99999 suggested and call either upscale audio, Brent Jesse, Jim McShane or Vintage tube services and ...
Anyone with a recommendation for a monoblock?
Quicksilver makes good tube mono blocks that are not too expensive. You just need to make sure they work with your speakers.
Very early Mullard EL84s with O-getters?
Here is a link to Tube Classics that gives descriptions of the various EL84's, hope this helps. http://www.tube-classics.de/TC/Tubes/Valvo%20EL84/EL84.htm
Aestheix Calypso owners,tube advise needed
I agree with Jadem6 as I use Mullard 12AX7 and Amperex 6922 in my Calypso. The tubes I found were dead quiet with the Calypso set in High Gain. I only mentioned the low gain setting as it opens up the doors to using so many other tubes. I am looki...
Aestheix Calypso owners,tube advise needed
Gandme,A common theme in all of the threads on the Calypso has to do with the Calypso getting a bad wrap of being hard on tubes, because with the wrong tube the linestage can sound noisy (tube hiss thru the speakers). This has to do with the Calyp...
Aestheix Calypso owners,tube advise needed
Hi Gandme,Changing the 12AX7 tube will have a dramatic affect on the sound compared to changing the 6922 tube. As the 12AX7 is in the gain stage of the preamp. All of the recommendations above are excellent. You just need to know what kind of soun...
External DAC and Theta Casablanca II
Raks,Have you tried a preamp and bypassing the Casablanca altogether. Maybe you could borrow one from one of your friends and try it out. You would probably be supprised.Doug
External DAC and Theta Casablanca II
Hi Scott,I have not been following this tread and did not realised you asked me a question. Yes, I thought that all analog signals sent into a casablanca were converted to digital. That was what I was told when looking to buy one. Carl is their te...
External DAC and Theta Casablanca II
Hi Scott,You could call Theta, but I believe that the Casablanca I , II or III all convert the analog to digital. Therefore you cannot by pass your superior dacs and use the Casablanca at the same time. That is why the made the six shooter.Doug
