Best used dac under $2000
I have heard great things about the Chord and Kora (although after learning Kora is a French company, I will not buy one) but feel Bel Canto DAC2 should be on this list. I plan on buying one in the next month...i'd buy the Chord if I could afford it.
How much to spend on a cd changer as a transport
I appreciate all your posts, but aside from Sugar I'm not sure I'm getting my question answered. I realize in this hobby spending more generally means better quality/sound, however I am trying to figure out where the law of diminishing returns app...
How much to spend on a cd changer as a transport
hehe...thanks sugar, I have heard Aiwa maked a good transport, and was a bit dumbfounded by such a claim, but will look into this further.
I need some clarity
Umm, thats what I said Zaik;)
I need some clarity
Law, I think after reading the replies that there is strong evidence that speakers are your problem. Changing tubes, ICs or speaker wire will tweak the sound but not 'change' it. Stop spending money on tweaks and save for an 'upgrade.' To answer y...
I need some clarity
I agree...try new cables. Analysis Plus will brighten the highs a notch or two...I would definitly give them a try before you commit to anything else. Try usedcables.com to audition some.
Desperately seeking the elusive tube sound
I have found good synergy using a SS CDP/DAC combo (although hoping to upgrade to an all in 1 piece sometime soon) with a tube pre and a hybrid amp. I would recommend a tube pre for sure, and SS amp, unless you are willing to spend a fair amount f...
Audio CD-R's versus regular CD-R's?
First let me say that it is admirable to see you admit to a felony in a public forum; at least your honest. If only murders and drug runners (I do not concider pot a drug) would take lessons from you.Anyway, to answer your question (I have put a l...
Opinions on Lexicon MC-1 re:2-channel transparency
Don't know if cost is an issue in your purchase, but I wanted to point out that the MC8 will be out soon (if not already) and will be compatible with DVDA and SACD, so you may want to hold off on your MC1 purchase.
Pre-Amp Pass Through Loop
http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?cspkr&1043981321&openusid&zzMdomnick&4&5#MdomnickI thought you might appreciate this, although it's nothing to do with Classe products. But I hear it's good stuff. I think it all comes do...
Pre-Amp Pass Through Loop
It allows for an external pro to be used and the ht pass through routes the signals to the amp it is connected to yet volume is controled by the pro. Your preamp should then be in a pass through mode and not touch the signal.
am I nuts?
Loose...I just came through the other end of the tunnel you're going into. Sold my Lexicon for a Sonic Frontier Line 1, and sold my 4 marantz mono blocks in a biamp config for Anthem Amp 2 and now my CC and rear speakers are sitting in a box. I co...
So BAT is making a pre/pro?
Dave,Actually there is some info (no pics:() on BAT's website. Look under "New Products" and "AV10 White Papers." The tube section will be optional for the front 3 speakers.
Transparent Audio cables
I'd shop around...I own ML+ ICs and I like the way they sound, but I think as good can be had from other manufactures for less. If you are buying used, I'd prolly say try em out as they will be more priced like they should be. I admit to not havin...
Bryston 7B SST vs. Parasound Halo JC 1 shootout...
Very nicely written review...honest and up front. I also lust after the stuff I can't afford, knowing that it will get me the next 10-20% of the way there. 'Til then I will have to 'settle' on what I can afford, knowing I'm 80-90% of the way there...
