Life after Aerial 10Ts...
Jaybo, you know my wife... *g*Actually, I hope you're right... the 10Ts have proven to outlast all other audio equipment I've owned. I just think it would be interesting to go out and check...
Life after Aerial 10Ts...
WAF does play an important role since my system is in our living room (24'x12'x8')... in fact, it's part of the reason I'm considering replacing the 10Ts since they are the all-black ones and, well, not the prettiest speakers around.
Life after Aerial 10Ts...
PBB - I hear what you're saying... but there is so much on the market that it really does help to hear what paths other ex-10T owners have gone down.Jaybo - Keeping the 10Ts may be exactly what I end up doing - just want a chance to kick a few tir...
Life after Aerial 10Ts...
Great advice! Keep it coming... I will say that room and placement can make a huge difference with the 10Ts and if they're not fed a lot of power, they're merely ordinary. I have been giving serious thought to the Ushers... I heard the 8571s about...
Cambridge 840C, YES it is as good as the reviews
Ludimagis - I got mine from SpearitSound as well. Great price and they were extremely helpful.Sunset_ranch - I think the 840c is an amazing player for $1395, and can take on most anything twice that price. But, Harley's review in TAS stating that ...
Cambridge 840C, YES it is as good as the reviews
Arbuckle, you mentioned in another thread that you got a great deal on one. New? Where? I also think it's a pretty amazing bang-for-the-buck CDP. I know someone looking for one and noticed recently that the MLP went up to $1599.
Which sub $2k CD player would you recommend?
I think at under $2k, the CA 840c is hard to beat. Very extended and detailed highs but equally solid base.
Isolation devices and CDPs
Also check out Herbie's Audio Lab... a number of interesting, low cost options. One thing I've been trying to good effect is placing his grungebuster dots between my cones and components. Seems to make a nice improvement - particularly under my CD...
UPGRADE CDP NEED YOUR HELP
In this price range, you should check out the Cambridge Audio 840c that Harley at TAS raved about. While I don't agree it's the best under $5k, I do think it punches well out of it's price range. With digital inputs and outputs, it also offers a l...
PC-Audio vs. High-end CD Player-GAME OVER
Game over? not hardly -- but, the game has definitely broadened and will continue to do so. If anything, vinyl popularity has increased -- perhaps due more to us dinosaurs or those with collector mentalities, but when done right, analog rules! Per...
Hi-fi digital front end suggestions for my system
Well, there's one initial choice to be made ... do you want a computer in your listening room? If so, then integrating one (Mac or PC) directly into your system using a good USB DAC would be the way to go. As I understand it, a Vista based PC will...
Boulder Modified Squeezebox...any experience?
So here's what I struggle with... I don't doubt that throwing $1k-$2k at a $300 unit can do wonders. But, then you're talking very rapid depreciation in resale value when the next generation of SB-like devices are available... Maybe a year from no...
Cambridge Audio 840C
After 400+ hours of breakin, I've tried it both balanced and unbalanced (as well as a transport alone). I "think" balanced may have marginally better definition but I think Daltonlanny is right in that they are not matched levels so it's difficult...
Are there digital front ends with the body...
Paulfolbrecht, I have to agree with you about analog. I still turn to vinyl when I want to listen critically, but digital and CDPs have come a long, long way in the last decade or so. It ain't analog but it ain't bad.
Are there digital front ends with the body...
I've got a Wadia 830 with mods from Steve Huntley at Great Northern Sound that has amazing body and depth of image when the recording calls for it... I believe this is, at least in part, what the GNSC mods enabled on this player and, based on know...
