Discerning a difference between streamers is difficult...only me or common for all?
uh huh.
Discerning a difference between streamers is difficult...only me or common for all?
As explained previously, reclocking does nothing with respect to RF/EMI and other non-jitter sources of noise.  RFI/EMI are not the same as jitter.  The OP indicates that he can hear a difference between an $80 cable and a $230 cable from the same...

At least conceptually, there is a pretty easy way to explain the OP’s experience of cable differences.  Coax is potentially susceptible to RFI and other non-jitter noise coming from the network.  And as with jitter, DACs vary with respect to how, ...

It is possible for a DAC to reclock, even when SPDIF is used.  The DAC 9 manual indicates that it uses “reclocking for all outputs”.   I think that may be why the streamer wouldn’t matter, even using SPDIF.  In addition, the purpose of reclocking ...

streamers don’t have a sound or different tonality (assuming no differences re up- or oversampling, etc.).  They have different levels of noise, but even there, the differences between relatively cheap but well-engineered streamers and insanely ex...

lol! Yes, a good pet can definitely add warmth to your system.  And re DSP, I also am not a huge fan of adding (more) digital processing to one’s system if one can avoid it.  Another obvious way to add warmth to your system is thru your speaker ch...

No regrets.  If you want to keep the amp, you can always add an upgraded external dac.  And if you’re like me, you may prefer vinyl as your primary source for serious listening anyway.

If you want to add warmth, I’d go with an all-tube integrated in place of your hybrid.  Issue of course is your speakers are pretty inefficient -85 db, 8 ohm (but dips to 3.2) so you’d need a tube amp with guts.  That would also require a new DAC,...
Enough is Enough
I would recommend you listen to a Goldnote DS1000, which runs “only” $8k.  I have a DS10, and a good friend of mine had a DCS Bartok (not Apex).  We did head-to-head listening tests.  With the optional external power supply, I preferred my Goldnot...

Capital Audiofest Coming Up!
was there yesterday, a few rooms I recommend: High Water Sound (room 323) - Cessaro speakers; expensive but Jeff Catalano always has a great room and plays good music. Gestalt Audio (room 325) - very cool new speakers - Cinnamon Audio from Portu...
Sub suggestions please
Have been searching for new sub with walnut aesthetic myself.  Another possibility is Vandersteen.  Only issue is that their walnut, to my eyes, looks a little more like cherry - reddish tint in the finish.  But really nice subs.
Garrard 301 - Project
@lalitk  who’s doing your plinth?  Re SUT, is that the Etsuro?  And I’ll be at CAF - let me know if you’re coming.
