You've tried other amps and ended with Pass, please discuss I think they are bright and ruthlessly revealing. I accept that a lot of music I like is not well mastered and prefer a warmer sound. I am also very sensitive to brightness (tinnitus from an accident as a child). For someone that wants to hear ...
You've tried other amps and ended with Pass, please discuss Why is it ridiculous any more than the post asking what owners of Magnepans like and dislike about the speakers? He asks a legitimate question and from what I have seen, he has said Pass never has spoken to him, not that he hates them. If people d...
Best speakers 5k 10 k I have to agree with mn2bttb. Revels are really hard to beat, they just play the music. I used a set of F36 for a while and debated whether to keep them or my Magnepan 3.5s. Personally, I would use a pair of Rythmik subs.
Where subwoofers are manufactured The OP didn’t ask about value, he asked who manufactures in the US. I have a background in economics. I fully appreciate that I can get better value by purchasing from overseas companies, but I am often willing to pay a reasonable premium to pur...
velodyne dd plus? still considered best of the best? Ahh, the Muse 18. I will better you, the Muse 16, which looked like a large, wood refrigerator on its side. I heard one at Shelley's Stereo with Magnpan 3.3s in the mid 1990s. Amazingly articulate, tuneful bass, until it bottomed. Going back t...
Help chose : Hafler 110 preamp or Carver C2 preamp ?? I am both a Carver and Hafler fan, but would give the nod to The Hafler. The DH-110 was just a nice, sweet sounding preamp.
Popular new/used SS stereo power amps under $2500? mplstereo,Hearing your room is open on one side makes me feel better. Having a room with all four walls with identical dimensions is a recipe for bad standing wave issues. I would start, if possible by treating the first reflection point on the ...
Popular new/used SS stereo power amps under $2500? You have been given a lot of good choices on the amps, but I am more concerned about your room. With a 12x12 room, assuming also a normal 8 foot ceiling height, you are going to have some strong doubling of modes at 47hz, 85 hz, and 95 hz. Some ...
Vandersteen 1 in the nearfield, for rock music? Amazing deal. Make sure you get the tilt correct, but fabulous speakers and are easy to power. Enjoy.
Towers vs stand mounts with dedicated stereo subs? My two cents. If you like your Tektons, instead of trying to find speakers that naturally roll off at the right frequency, use a crossover to high pass your mains. Marchland has passives that start at $295.
Where subwoofers are manufactured Rythmik is assembled in the US. Zu subwoofer enclosures are manufactured here, but the drivers and amps are likely produced overseas. Also check out Seaton Sound, Salk (Rythmik driver and amp, US made enclosure). Finally, Tyler Acoustics builds...
Schiit Freya plus. Is this an upgrade? I ended up with a Freya S which replaced my Adcom GFP-750. I will post my comments here that I have posted in another forum: Received my Freya S yesterday and hooked it up and let it run overnight so it would be nice and warmed up to compare thi...
Maggie owners (past, present, future) what do (did) you love and or dislike about them? It is likely the dampening of the backwave by the heavy curtains helped. I have found that if maggies are closer than about 4 feet from the wall behind them, the wall needs absorption, or they get shouty.
Maggie owners (past, present, future) what do (did) you love and or dislike about them? I have had multiple Maggies over the years, SMGa, .6, MG-12, 2.7, currently 3.5s with Mye Stands rebuilt by Magnepan last year. I have also had many dynamic speakers, Celestion 15, NHT SB-2, Vandersteen 2c, Vandersteen 3A Sig, currently Totem Mit...
Tekton 4-10 Subwoofer Not sure why, as it appears that Tekton makes good products and are highly liked, but their specifications consistently have no basis in reality. For example, every speaker test I have seen has shown their actual sensitivity is more than 6db lowe... |
