MIT's not good for tube components? "Also, MIT does make speaker cables optimized for tube power amps."I don't know about the current line, but they did in the past. The MH7x0 line had versions specificly tuned to applications using tube power amps.
Von scheikert VR4jr what are you using ? I agree that the post placement is not well designed. The better solution would have been a single pair of woofer posts placed high enough on the woffer cabinet that the standard bi-wire cables would span the to sets of posts. It would also elimin...
cryoed vs uncryoed wire A/B tests? I have a pair of VH Audio Pulsars. They came to me used and uncryo'd. The sound was very very clear and there was an incredible seperation between instruments but there was something not quite cohesive about the image. Some sounds were forward of ...
cable burn in process Cheapest and easiest cable cooker you can get is an FM tuner off ebay. An old tuner can be had for $10. It may not work as quickly as a dedicated cooker that uses higher voltages and signal sweeps, but you can walk away from your ICs for a week an...
What spikes for VR-4Jr's ? If your original spikes have bent, contact VSA and see if they will replace them. They have a new spike that is a cone and not the thin pointed spike. It is much more solid.
I hate stereo stores But found the next best thing Yes! Deja Vu in McLean is a great store. It's the only highend place where I have never sensed an attitude. The guys I have spoken with clearly love the gear and the hobby.
Von Schweikert VR4Jr how is it w/o biwire? "the signal has to travel a longer way to reach the tweeter module"When not bi-wiring the VR4JR, don't connect your cables to the bass cabinet. You should connect the speaker cables to the monitor posts and pass signal to the bass drivers using th...
Over emphasis on reviews.... I can honestly say that I've never purchased a component based on a review in a magazine. I find that most of the reviews here and on a few related sites are the best for my needs even though the opinions sometimes differ widely. Those who write r...
silverline vs von schweikert I'm using a premier 11a with the 4JRs and it was nice but really improved with biamping. An MF2250 on the bottom really opened up the 4JRs.
Z squared AUAU gold alloy ICs, no image at all If you really have absolutely no image and have a DVM, you might want to test the cables to make sure that one of the cables isn't wired wrong. If one channel is out of phase that would destory your image. It's not very likely, but manufacturing m...
Von Schweikert VR4JR & Tube Amp??? I'm using a Premier 11A. Sounds sweet. Sounds even sweeter now bi-amped with an MF2250 on the bass cabinets and the P11A on top.
Gabriel Gold IC's are they really this good? They seem to be made of the same gold alloy wire that a lot of other people are using. What kind of connectors are they using?Has anyone compared them to the other gold alloy based ICs like the z-squared?
Tube or SS for Vocals/Strings "No brainer - Tubes."ah, but which tubes? 6550s? EL34s? others?
Amp for Thiel CS2's I drove CS2s with a 45W tube amp and at lower to moderate volumes the sound was incredible but the bass was weak. It wasn't until I swapped in a 240W SS amp that they really sang and sounded full range.
Canare 4S11 Star Quad cables for speaker Thanks, that makes sense. I was thinking of the starquad shielded mic cable design and how I've seen some people use that for cheap speaker cables. |
