VPI turntables come with phono cables? You will need regular RCA cables, one for each channel. Just make sure that they are shielded. I learned the hard way after buying a pair and getting radio transmissions through the phono input. HTH
Grateful Dead One from the Vault I found a German website that lists it as a GD Records release. The music is what I'm after and if it is well recorded.Mike
Grateful Dead Mars Hotel Sweet! I found a copy and, based upon your responses, I cannot wait for it to get here. Rball, I would be interested in hearing your story. Thanks,Mike
Zu Xaus or Furutech AG-12 phono cable? I have the Xaus with A VPI Scoutmaster and Dynavector XX2, It is very well shielded compared to other cables I have tried. One even picked up an FM station. It is as close to neutral as any I have heard. That, in conjunction with their location, m...
VPI JMW 10.5i and Dynavector XX2 MK II I have the XX-2 MkII loaded @ 40 Ohms. It is mounted to VPI Scoumaster/JMW 9 and seems to be a very good match.
Tom Evans Repair JJ,I have had precisely the same experiences with Scott. He has ALWAYS been prefessional, thorough, and borderline compulsive about getting the job done right, including burn-in of replacement components, prior to releasing the job. I cannot recom...
VPI Scout- motor pops in speakers when turned off I have exactly the same problem. I believe that there is a snubber circuit there but not a very effective one. I just hit the mute switches on the preamp prior to turn off.As far as the belt screech problem, I solved it by placing the belt in a ba...
Are you using anti-skating or not None other than the twist in the tonearm wires in the JMW 9 arm to the junction box. It sounds better without than with and does not seem to affect tracking.FWIW
Best Preamp for Hovland Sapphire Amp and Quads You could try, if you can find one, an MFA Luminescence or a MC Reference. I use a prototype MC Reference with a pair of MFA M120 or Webster Electric Tube mono's to drive my Quads and I enjoy both. Very different sound from the different amps thou...
Mintlp I personally believe Mint's best advice is to be patient. I have done this three times now on the dame setup, with increasing amounts of anality and been stunned EVERY time. I believe that Stringreen said every time you think you've got it right, ...
DIY Record Cleaning Machine - Initial Failures Grimace,ROFLMAO! I like the MAX approach the best. We are staff to four of the little darlings, maybe they can earn their keep.

Old Classic Receivers: A Mistake to Buy? I found a Fisher 400C receiver down the street at a garage sale for $10.00. Not only did it work, it replaced an Onkyo receiver because my wife liked the sound of it much better, as did I. It's all about the sound.
No reviews for Magus pre amp I have heard the Magus with an Onkyo M308 (IIRC) and it sounded pretty good driving a pair of Celestion SL6S speakers. Scott Frankland is still providing repaor and update support for MFA products. The build quality is as good as I have seen and w...
Solphia repair You might try swapping left channel tubes with right channel tubes, one at a time to see fit it might be a tube issue as well.FWIW |
