Focus Audio Classic Check out OhioValleyAudio.com. Check out the Meibao stands. I'm using the taller 4FX stands with my 688's. The shorter ones (23.5") would probably be a better match for your Trentes.Very well built. 37lbs each. Real cool looking. Dirt cheap $229 w...
B&W Signature 805s v. Merlin TSM-Ms ? Hi Spencer, I would agree not much difference when one is looking at a 45" vs. 42" but it really is notable when talking small monitors.I know in my own case I own some PSB alpha mini and Aperion 502b along with the FS688's. The Alphas are 10.5x6....
B&W Signature 805s v. Merlin TSM-Ms ? You might want to do a word search on the Focus Audio FS688 speaker posts. A current post "What is the best mini monitor?" has a post by one who owns the FS688. He owns the FS688, B&W Sig. 805, Green Mountain Europa, Dynaudio 1.3SE and a Quad ...
Duty free or not? I once bought speakers from a individual in Singapore. Cost $1350. Import tax or what ever they want to call it ran $74 and I was billed directly from DHL. S.O.B.s charged a $5 fee to collect the tax! This might vary from country to courtry though.
Focus Audio FS688 wiring tweak? Phil and NIck thanks for your response. I pulled my jumpers out to compare. They had been in place since last winter when I was running them with the Cambridge Audio amp. Was really suprised at how much different the Jungson sounded with the jumper...
Is it worth spending $10k on CD-only player today? I guess you haven't read the Linn Unidisk review? And what you are saying would be true for the vast majority of high end universal players. Redbook CD play taking a secondary role.UHF magazines reviewers seem to feel it gets very close if not mat...
Jungson Integrated, have you heard it? Yes, I've had the JA-88D since May. That was the same time BFS had one of Andy's(Sekei.com) units in for the review. Too make a long story short I went to Sekei. to order a Mingda tube amp. Andy had raved about the 88D and for good reason. I thoug...
Xindak SCD-2 Mods Yes, there have been some problem with the Xindak. So it is possible you have a lemon. Trouble reading CD's and such. I know some of us did a group purchase of Chinese audio. We took a long hard look at the Xindak, but decided against it. The One ...
odyssey loudspeakers... Tnt-audio.com did a real good review of this speaker in a shootout against 4 other speakers including the ACI Emerald, Soliloquy SAT5 and Dynaudio Audience 42.The Odyssey did very well.
Is it worth spending $10k on CD-only player today? I don't think so. If and when the price of SACD's come down regular CDs may be replaced rapidly. Of course no one knows when this will happen or even if the regular CD will be replaced.Personally I would look at the Linn Unidisk 1.1 reviewed in th...
small room speakers Just to help clear things up. The LS3/5 and S3/5 are not the same speaker. I will often see someone mention the S3/5 which was released around 2001 then someone else will second the S3/5 and say they have had some for 20 plus years. The LS3/5 was a...

Do You Remember Your First CD Player? Yep, still have it and it still works fine. Magnavox CDB560. Got it in January of 1987 for $100 new. Kid got it for a Christmas present, but said he couldn't afford CD's which cost way more then LP's.
Anyone heard of shanling or Jungson dvd players? Go to Sekei.com and call Andy for input on the Jungson DVDs. Suppose to be good for the money but not off the scale like the amps.
Focus Audio Classic Thats way cool. Do you have your 'replacement' 688s yet? |
