Ever Have One Of Those Evenings? Zaikesman, you ever get things working?
Who is your overall favorite guitarist? This is a first! I agree with Warrenh! SRV is my favorite too. His version of Kenny Burrell's "Chitlins Con Carne" from "The Sky Is Crying", which I have on a gold MFSL CD, is one of my reference cuts. I still can't believe that he's gone.
Black Diamond Racing products under speakers? Lugnut, another good point. Do you supose that a Home Depot would carry the Nylock bolts? I don't live in a big city and anything remotly exotic is hard to find in this locality. Perhaps an auto parts store, I don't know of any Hot Rod shops aroun...
Black Diamond Racing products under speakers? Lugnut and Bob, thanks both are good ideas. I think I have some blue Locktite and I might give that a try first.I would still like to hear from others who have played with different ways of decoupling speakers. Townshend Audio makes a Seismic Sink...
Black Diamond Racing products under speakers? Timo, you have the speakers on a bare hardwood floor? How did you feel about what it did for the sound and what were they on before?
Philosphies on subwoofers: as I see it. Sdcampbell and Bigtee are both guys who are strong advocates of stereo 2wq's and use them to great advantage. Vandersteen himself, as Scott mentioned advocates this as well. Eventually I want to add a second sub myself. Your question about crossin...
Replacing Stock Power Cord on Subwoofer??? eric53, what did you use for the male IEC? Did you use a panel mount style like I described? If you found something better I would love to know what and where you got it.
Replacing Stock Power Cord on Subwoofer??? I am considering the same thing. What I am thinking of doing is leaving a short "pigtail" of perhaps 3-4" of the stock cord and putting an IEC connector on it. This might be the least invasive way of going about it. I just haven't found the right ...
What's up with picofarads? Sean makes ther point that capacitance CAN effect a MC, it's just that most of them don't seem to be as effected by these small changes in value as a MM is. If you don't hear the difference don't sweat it.The original ARC SP 9 came with a 560pF ca...
Help: Searching for Vandersteen-like speakers... Forget the toy 3 watt amp and get the ARC VT 100 and the 2Ce's, unless you have a LOT MORE money to spend on something like Silverline speakers with mid 90db sensitivity ratings. The VT is a perfect match for the 2's.
What's up with picofarads? The SHO is a moving coil, and isn't sensitive to capacitance like a MM cartridge is. MC's are more sensitive to impedance. As long as the input is set at the right impedance, forget the pF settings!
Hubbell IG8300. Fantastic results Stuart, glad you were open minded enough to give it a go. Most all of my audio buddies that don't have one are planning on getting them. It is an amazing improvement. Where did yours come from and what, if anything did you do to burn it in? Did yo...
Albertporter only needs 50 December 31,02I just have a bit to add now that the outlets are setteled in and sounding amazing. I did find that the outlets did change the tonal balance. They got rid of some colorations in the bass and mid bass as well as smoothing out everythi...
Best upgrade ever: cryo outlet for my refrigerator Psychic, RUN don't walk! Go get yourself a cryoed outlet to plug your gear into too! Put the PS on the TV or something. I think you have read some of my rantings about what these did for me. They are amazing! Get more!
Correlation between tube bias and hiss? All good stuff above. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a set of Svetlana or Electro Harmonix EL 34's. The 5Ar4/Gz34 is a problematic tube at times depending on the brand that is in there. I would get a new Sovtek. They are much better than the Chi... |
