Uber expensive repair at United Radio
@dasign I feel your pain.I sent my ML No. 39 CD processor to United Radio for lack of sound output from the analog/RCA outputs.  The digital output via toslink/coax worked fine if I used my own DAC.  I was told the issue was a faulty IC in the No....
Thiel Owners
Hello everyone! Wow, what an informative thread this is! I’ve really enjoyed reading through here and learning so much about Thiel speakers. Such a wealth of information. I picked up my first pair of Thiel speakers a few months ago. I found a pair...
Polling Integrated Amp & Vinyl Users
I use the built in phono stage on my Yamaha A-S2100 with great results.  It lacks some adjustability, but the MC section sounds really nice with my AT 0C9XSL.  No built in DAC on the Yamaha, so I use an external one.
Musical Paradise MP-501 opinions
I bought one of these a year or two ago.  It sounded really great during the short time (couple hours) it was operational.  Soon after setting it up it developed an intermittent right channel drop out that evolved into a totally non-working right ...
marantz pm-15s2
Many reviews I’ve read of the Marantz PM14/15 have echoed your sentiment here; the top end is a bit rolled off, dark sounding, etc. Seems to me this characteristic is inherent to the amp and its design. If you like the sound of your current Yamaha...
Help me power my Kappa 8.1's please!
The Audire Otez can be found at the top of your budget. It’s not pretty, but it’s a powerhouse that sounds absolutely wonderful. Mine has dislodged McIntosh monoblocks among many other fine, higher dollar amps. This amp drives the hell out of my A...
connection advice for Musical Fidelity A5 integrated amp
Does the relay click when the A5 is turned on?  Have you made sure the tape, tape monitor, or HT direct inputs are not selected?

Splurged a bit on a Jeff Rowland Model 112.  Too soon to form a concrete opinion but, initially, I'm quite impressed with the change.https://goo.gl/photos/59d3XkEGzCBE53sG6https://goo.gl/photos/dcEuy63BP1WaAsMc6

So my time with the Yamaha A-S2100 is coming to an end.  The short version of the story is that I recently bought this unit used, but it arrived damaged.  I've been listening to it while FedEx works the claim but I expect a refund in the near futu...

Thanks for your input, glaucon.  Your description of analytical was exactly what I was trying to get across.  I'm listening to the same music that I have for years...and with pretty good equipment...and I'm hearing things I haven't heard before.  ...

I have them home and setup now.  These are a very different speaker than I'm accustomed to.  Very resolving and analytical, but not in that dry, clinical way that leads to fatigue.  They're smooth and engaging and draw you into the music.  These s...

Well, I'm hoping my front end is sufficient.  Right now I'm running a pretty simple setup consisting of a Yamaha A-S2100, Teac UD-501 DAC, and a heavily modded Rega P2 TT.  Audioquest PC's and Discovery +4 IC's throughout.  I'm thinking I'll start...

It's been nearly 12 years since the creation of this thread.  How many owners are still out there?  Have your impressions changed? If all goes well, I should be picking up a pair of Gamma Summits this weekend.  I'm really looking forward to giving ...
Amp upgrade for Aerial Acoustics 10T's? (
I ended up buying the Aragon mentioned above.  It's a beast and delivers plenty of current, but the sound isn't to my liking.  Upper frequency detail and clarity are impressive, as is the soundstage and imaging, but, to my ears, it's lacking the m...
