Build a new system around pair of Snell Alll's?
I've heard the AIII many times (a friend had a pair back in the day), and like it a lot. I think that the AIII is an iconic design, but....The one thing I've never heard from them is much in the way "depth". When set up properly, the imaging is ve...
Original prices for LP albums
RW,You might be confusing EIGHT Jewish Korean veterans (Korvettes) with The Nevele Hotel in the Catskill mountains which was purportedly named for the ELEVEN original Jewish investors. Nevele is eleven spelled backwards. No idea whether either stor...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Rich,I've never heard the Classico, but I have owned Micros and A'Divas and listened to the Gallo Ref extensively. I also own Ohm 100s. The little guys from Gallo are a different animal entirely, but there is some common ground shared by the Ohms ...
Original prices for LP albums
Rich didn't mention that you had to comparison shop Sam Goody's with Korvettes (Paramus, NJ, in my case) because Goody's might be 20 cents cheaper (or 20 cents more expensive) on any given record at any given time, depending on which labels were o...
Frank Zappa?
One Burnt Weenie Sandwich for me, please.I took to Zappa late, but once I got the bug.....

Music to Impress my Kid's Friends?
OT (sorry). So, after reading Richard's (typically interesting) post here, I asked myself one important question: What exactly is "Chiptune" ?A quick visit to Wikipedia and voila!, a chiptune sample track. Now, this is good stuff: Old Atari video g...

Forgotten heavy bands from late 60's to early 70's
Roky Erickson (13th floor elevators) is IMHO one of the great, quirky artists to emerge at that time. I really love the way that he's rooted in the blues and how that lends substance to his music. There's a 2 disc compilation that covers a lot of ...
Whole house re-wiring question
This is a tough question because a good electrician will do better work than a bad AV guy - I know because I've used both in the past. It's just hard to know who's good, and a high price tag means little. I'd try to find recommendations if you can...
Pentangle's album Reflection
The triangle is clearly audible on my system, but it is fairly low in the mix. Marty

Another vote for RCA, but IMHO, this choice is system dependent. Depending on the speaker hanging off the Cary amp that I use, I sometimes prefer to use a GE 211 output tube. So, different horses for different courses.Marty
Which song you would love to wake up to?
If you've got video with your alarm clock, this wouldn't be too bad:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol4MaEPayv0&feature=relatedSusannah Hoffs covering Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love"
improving bass on large floorstanders....
If you're really interested in hearing clean bass, get hold of any Audyssey equipped pre-pro or AVR. Overall, it may or may not be your cup of tea, but it will almost certainly improve bass performance in a startling way.Marty
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
I've recently grown fond of this one, "For The Love of Him" by Bobbi Martin, but I'm not sure that my wife is ready to "make me her reason for living":When he opens the doorSays I'm homeBeware of the look in his eyesThey tell you the mood he's inW...
