Which universal player: DV-50 or Trivista?
Thanks, Nealhood!Well, the main reason for my desire for a new player is rather the 963SA's lack of audio handling convenience than the sound, at least when it comes to CD, because I'm quite happy with the DAC2 so far (and even with the Philips). ...
Which universal player: DV-50 or Trivista?
Thanks, Bigkidz!I'm sure there are also other people who have heard both players and can judge them...
Bel Canto DAC 2 or Ikemi?
I'm enthusiastic about the DVD 963 SA/DAC2 pairing. Before I used an Audiolab 8000CDM as transport, but the (cheap) Philips offers immensely more detail. Its downside is its not very audio-friendly handling.
transport for Chord DAC64
Fatcataudio... ...I know that transports can make a huge difference. But given that the Chord has a 4-MB buffer and is reported to be very transport-insensitive because of this, it makes sense to rely on people who have heard the effect from diffe...
transport for Chord DAC64
CEC and Vecteur may be two of the best transports, but the question is: Will Doc_stereo's DAC64 really benefit from them, compared to cheaper transports?
1s are 1s, 0s are 0s, right?
I'm not so sure about the common explanations for sonic differences caused by cables («impedance») and transports («jitter»). My own experiences with digital cables tell me that impedance isn't the decisive factor, there are others, like materials...
Philips 1000 vs 963 for 2 channel. Which one ?
Bhouser......the 963SA has really good redbook and SACD sound, and it is surprisingly good (sonically) as a transport, clearly better than my Audiolab 8000CDM, at least with my Bel Canto DAC2, which I like a lot. The only downside is its mediocre ...
Transports and Technology
With my limited transport experience I can nevertheless confirm that transports have made an important difference at each case in my audio career, even comparable to DACs. The only pure transport I own(ed) is the Audiolab 8000CDM; it is now clearl...
Upsampling DVD player
EDIT:«I doubt you would find a better sounding CD player than the Philips DVD 963SA...»Forgot the appendix: ...«in its price range.»
Upsampling DVD player
Posted by Socrates:«If sound quality is important to you, avoid DVD players and stick to a dedicated CD player or external DAC and dedicated transport.»I doubt you would find a better sounding CD player than the Philips DVD 963SA.
The best CD Player for the money
No doubt for me: Philips DVD 963SA. Incredible redbook sound. With equally excellent SACD playback and DVD-video option.
consensus on passive preamps?
...and to meet the topic: I can't imagine a better pre-«amp» than a passive one. Possibly a transformer design sounds best of all. (I have a 10-kOhm Alps potentiometer.)
consensus on passive preamps?
Best for more than one source component: a remote-controlled passive attenuator (stepped/potentiometer or even transformers) next to the power-amp inputs... = negligible cable influence.
best CD transport available?
In fact I've no idea of Turkish, just remember some typical words and letters. ...çok kimse farklı bir tek başına... ...if you know what I mean;-) (Myself I'm German speaking Swiss.)
best CD transport available?
«Looks like Dutch or Swedish» Never ever! Seems to be Turkish.
