Tube preamp with DNA-500 I heard the McCormack being driven with Joule Electra LA100 Mk III and the the sound was fabulous. The newer LA150 should be even better. The transformer coupled preamps such as some of the VAC models and Surprateks would be a great match too.
Monoblocked Bernings ZH-270s? The monoblocked Bernings with their 140 wpc and high current delivery will drive even the toughest loads. I heard of at least two people that are using them on their MBL 101's with amazing results. However, even with easy to drive speakers there a...
The most emotional amp out there? Kora Cosmos Reference monoblocks. The most musical and emotinally involving tube amps I have ever heard. They do all the audiphile tricks right too.
Anyone tried the new AA Capitole Reference ? I did more research and it appears that the latest version, branded "Reference" is exactly the same as MkII, with the only difference being the cosmetisc. Here is a quote from Signature Sound website:"Audio Aero Products get a Facelift! At the 200...
Anyone tried the new AA Capitole Reference ? I haven't heard the latest version yet, but the SE upgrade is definatley well worth the money. The new tubes and caps do need to burn in for at leat two weeks, but even within the first few hours, the improvements in transparency and low end dynam...
Opinions on the Bel Canto Evo 4 Gen II The eVo 4 is a great amp and should mate beautifully with your Aerials. Using it in a bridged mode is a must. Not only will you have gobs of power but it simply sounds much better this way, with really powerful low end, nice nutral mids and gorgeo...
cable for Gershman Acoustics Avantgardes I don't know your budget, but Nordost Red Dawn or even better, the SPM, should be on your your shortlist. They mate very well with any of the Gershmans. I heard the GAP 828 with Valhallas and the sound was simply breathtaking.
cary v12 / gershman avande garde The V12's will have enough power to drive the Gershman and however I've never heard this particular combination, I think they should sound good together as both are top notch performers. One word of caution: both the RX-20's and the Cary's are a t...
Verity Fidelio vs. Fidelio Encore The differences are not huge, mainly in the treble, which is now a little more refined, as well as and the lower midrange which is sligtly richer and more fleshed out. I didn't hear much of a diffrenece in the lower end of the spectrum. The new ve...
Recomendations for simple CD transport Noth Star makes a fabulous transport. I like it much better that CEC TL-1X and Accustic Arts Drive 1. It also has a built-in upsampler that makes quite a difference.
JMLabs Alto BE / Verity Parsifal Encore / WP7? In my opinion the Parsifals are perfect for your room. They work well relatively close to side walls (imprortant as your room is only 11' wide, unless you want to place them on the wide wall), and they don't need a lot of space behind them (especi...
JMLabs Alto BE / Verity Parsifal Encore / WP7? Music taste and room size/placement options would be helpful too. All three speakers you mentioned are excellent, but they all seem to excell in different areas.
CJ Premier 17LS2 vs Premier 16LS2? The 16LS MKII is a much better preamp than the 17LS. They both share the same character, you just get more of everything with the 16LS. I had a chance to check out the 17LS and 17LS mkII side by side and thought the new version had a touch more re...
Which Dac is more "Musical Sounding" ??? Kora Hermes II is beautifully natural and musical, with rich harmonic signature (no thin "digititis" here), and at the same time, dynamic and detailed. I would definately take it over any of the MF Dacs.
Smooth sounding DAC? I would second the Audio Note DACs. I would also look into Kora Hermes, which is wonderfully smooth and at the same time vibrant and alive. If you're budget doesn't go that high then Bel Canto Dac 2 could be worth checking out. |
