Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
@smatsui with volume at max, I did hear some interference with a nearby repeater. Moved, and that went away. However, I still have the hum.
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
@hagtech tested my outlet with a multimeter, seems to be properly grounded. Don’t know if it’s an earth ground, but juice flows freely into it. The screw on the outlet plate is likewise grounded. Connected the grounding post from the preamp to the...
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
@cleeds prior to the Cadenza, I was using an Ortofon 2m bronze, and had hum at loud volumes. I cannot ever recall a time in the past when I have turned the volume to a high level and not heard the hum. Having said that, I don’t often go to high vo...
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
@hagtech I held the phono stage in the air, about 4 feet away from everything, didn’t help. Could be that I have no true ground, as you suggest. Interesting that the hum goes away when I touch the RCA tip from the preamp audio to a ground. @cleeds...
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
Everything was powered by the Furman...so I just ran a 50’ extension cord from the preamp to an outlet in the kitchen. Hum still there. The fact that the hum went away when grounding the tip of an RCA, while the other end is plugged into an output...
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
Hi Gordon, I’ve tried multiple phono to preamp cables moving them around, and lifting the phono stage in the air, away from everything...= hum.
Phono stage hum - Rega Aria
Tonearm plugged into the phone stage = hum. Tonearm disconnected from phono stage = hum. Cheater plug added to power cord for phono stage = hum. Cheater plug added to power cord for preamp = hum. Connected the tonearm ground wire to the ground of ...
Whatta Ya Think About Hsu Research Subwoofers?
I have a HSU VTF15 in my HT. Love it.
Two subs or not two subs...
Thanks all, will setup the REL as a 2nd sub, will at least see how that goes in tandem with the Klipsche!
Two subs or not two subs...
Thanks for the thoughts, looking forward to the experimentation. :)
Maggie owners (past, present, future) what do (did) you love and or dislike about them?
I have had Maggie 1.7i’s for a year or two, driving with solid state Bel Canto REF500m monoblocks, 500w @ 4ohm. They go very well together, and the speakers are my favorite that I have ever owned. Accurate and sweet! Looove them.
What MC cart would you use with this setup?
Thanks, the Michell is awesome so far, and bpoletti is right on, I was way overdue to replace that Rega plinth.
What MC cart would you use with this setup?
So...replaced the modded RP1 TT with a Michell Gyro SE, and really like it so far. Still using the Ortofon 2m bronze, will let the new table sink in, tweak setup etc., then will look for a cart later. Thanks to all for the great suggestions!
What MC cart would you use with this setup?
Checked out some of these so far and the Ortofon Cadenzas look pretty interesting, would be nice to find a place that would let me try a few carts before buying, (Minneapolis). That ART9 is compelling, may have to delve into the AT world. Have had...
What MC cart would you use with this setup?
Thanks everyone for the recommendations, I'm not familiar with a few of the cartridges you mentioned, so will be checking those out!Noromance - when you say I need a better turntable, is it because of the plinth? (everything else has been upgraded...
