Difference between SET and push-pull using 300B I have heard lower watt push pull tube amps with single pair output tubes etc. that get close to what single ended can do- enough to be very happy on more pop/rock type music, but never equal the sound of set. I believe it is not possable ever. I ...
Recommend relatively obscure high end tube preamps supratek, thor, blue circle. if it's not point to point, don't bother.
DAC to Amps bypassing preamp: Opinions please the only plus going direct is the money savings that could go elsewhere in your system. A good pre that fits your taste is allways going to be more fun to listen to than a passive-allways(keeping the rest of the system the same). its the tradeoff ...
McIntosh vs. Accuphase the specs are absolutly worthless. there is no way to say which one you would prefer until you put them into your system and see- they are both solidstate push/pull amps of high power, how much musical difference is there really going to be-not mu...
recommendations with 7500 budget I have an idea, please e-mail me. Not a dealer and have nothing to sell.
What is a good sounding classic tube amps to hunt? Dont forget grommes! the best of the bunch in my opinion- forget McIntosh- unless the original point to point ones, the new ones are great, GREAT! but not classic at all anymore. take rogue off your list. dont buy anything with circuit boards in t...
Solid State Preamp w/ PHono and with tube sound there are no solid state preamps that do what tube preamps do as far as tone goes. Ayre is the closest to the tube sound as far as musicality goes that I know of.
Why so many Gallo 3 or 3.1 for sale on A'goN? besides being totally ugly by any standards, they have a soundstage perspective about a foot off the ground- fine if your sitting on the floor to listen. The ads just kill me, making them appear to be three times larger than they really are. David...
Amateur inherited an audio system... sell the girlfriend and keep the system- it's quite nice.
Balanced Pre for Bi Amping Recommendations Please Forget the two outputs as a needed item, one pair and a quality Y interconnect is just as good as two seperate outputs. If the signal is split one inch inside the preamp or one inch outside the preamp is of no sonic difference.
Subwoofers I agree that the ML is as good as the reviews say and owners also. It is very fast and musical with great punch- very hard to pull off these at the same time though it does not dissapear like the other two. Rel is musical but not powerful sounding...
shipping speakers I had an almost indistructable Rel Stentor -as many know, it's got several internal wall to wall braces- that was destroyed by "UPS we droped it". My final guess is that it was droped from at least 30 feet in the air (thats 180 pounds falling from...
Active studio monitors or Hi-fi speakers Buy a used pair of Vanersteen 2ce speakers first. $600. Budget used up-but you can do no wrong from here. as a studio vs. passive debate, you will never beat the features of these speakers for you. Second find a reciever at this site- the older, t...
Which Power Amplifier to buy: Sunfire or Parasound This is my chance to get even for the very poor service I have had from Parasound. I admit I am biased between these two amps; have owned both. sunfire is the way to go for sure. More pride of ownership, better quality, ownership of a product made...
Use amp in balanced mode in unbalanced set-up The very idea of ballanced is to "Farris Buler...Buler...Buler" yes - cancel noise! and though there usually mabe could be negatives, sometimes you can get lucky and everything matches up and no percieved negatives. Forget the science and trust yo... |
