Info needed on ADS L1530 speakers.
I don't personally know anything about these products but Michael Kelly of Aerial fame once told me he was chief designer for ADS back in that period. If you could get him on the phone, I imagine he would have a lot to share.
How would audio program about stereo on Radio do
There are very few, if any, places in this country where you would find 50 audiophiles within the radius reach of a radio signal. Albert is right about the concerns of the average American. So, to answer your question directly, I don't think it wou...
Who and what are BEL/Bell Labs amplifiers
BEL is Brown Electronic Labs. Richard Brown designed and marketed his 1001 amplifier in the early 80s for about $1295. For a time he offered a double version called the 2002 but that was shortlived The current version of the 1001 sells for at leas...
Giving up on Power Race, and going SET?
Probably a good analogy could be drawn between the experience of savoring food and the experience of enjoying music. I'm too lazy to do that but I favor gas cooking over electric or(God forbid) microwave. Does anyone else out there feel the same? ...
Jeff Rowland Concentra II vs Gryphon Callisto 2200
Jallen, I'll second your comments. I'm not familiar with the Gryphon piece but after having lived with my Concentra for almost a year and gone through several speaker changes, I can't imagine it being incompatible with anything. It's the Rolex of ...
Personal analog evolution
In the beginning (1973)I had a Phillips GA 212 with Stanton 681EEE. Next an AR with Lustre Tonearm and Panasonic Strain Gauge cartridge. Then came SOTA Sapphire with same Lustre. Later bought ET-1 arm. Had an early Linn briefly, then went to VPI w...
All time classics? Your top 3 or 4?
If a product is worth as much today as it sold for new, it is a classic. Some items mentioned above qualify but most do not.
Class A solid state power amp
Unsound, According to Rowland's website, the Concentra is class A but putting that aside, I would second Labtec's question; Why be insistent on Class A?
What speaker goes well with Rowland Concentra ?
Goldmund Dialogues, if you can find them. Quad 989 or 988, depending on budget. Kharma, Merlin, Virgos. There's no shortage.
Attention: Dunlavy Audio Labs out of business
Twylie,I can relate to the difference between Aerial and Dunleavy.I've never met Michael Kelly in person but I used to sell his speakers and have logged perhaps 100 hours on the phone with him. He has a remarkable resume and doesn't talk about it....
Class A solid state power amp
Why no mention of Rowland? The most innovative, best built, least redundant line in the world is perpetually ignored by Audiogon subscribers. Is it because you don't like the sound or because the prices are not competitive on the watt/dollar scale...
Great Imaging Speakers Working against a wall?
Two possibilities come to mind. Perhaps by deadening the reflections off your left wall you could effect better symmetry of image. Secondly, try to follow Harry's rule of thirds by moving your chair away from the back wall. You can push it back be...
Top Ten Tuners of all Time??
I'm using an Accuphase T-101 with great results. Replaced an MR-78 which was nice but did not convey the musicality or bandwidth of the T-101.Has anybody out there ever tried a Eumig T-1000? It was an early digital from Austria. Years ago I owned ...
