Totem rain makers with wadia 151?
Firstly, I can't speak to the Wadia, but the Rainmaker is an excellent speaker with detail, large soundstage and with tight bass; extremely enjoyable to listen to and won't pass bass thru to the neighbors. Secondly, what happened to downsizing you...
Best Power Cable for less than $100
You didn't state if you need PCs for multiple components, but Pangea beat the $200 cords I've tried. I followed Elizabeth's advice a while back and went all Pangea for a very low cost.
Dali Mentor 6 and Room Size
Really appreciate the response, Audiooracle. I thought the Mentor 5 sounded light in the bass and I like the Mentor 6 with it's extra crossover at 800 Hz. As for the Helicon 400, $5500 is my budget and with a depth of 19", it's too large a footpri...

New CD player or new external DAC ?
There is such a wide selection of DACs now at different price points that I say go for a DAC. Use your Arcam as a transport for as long as it lasts (CDPs from 14 years ago were built pretty well). And a good quality cable doesn't have to break the...
Soothing the night....
Marakanetz...I use a cheap noise generator like this :http://www.amazon.com/Conair-SU1W-Sound-Therapy-Silver/dp/B000F54AN8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1368666185&sr=8-2&keywords=white+noise+generatorAs for Melatonin, it needs to be pharmace...
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
"I have been in the pro music space for 30 years." Nice to hear from that side of the aisle. I worked in the studios (NYC) and often wondered if the band was playing or if it was tape playback when I entered a control room. (the analogue days).And...
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
As a multiple Harley owner, I'll join in on the bashing ...obscenely overpriced and they take a lot of work and $ to maintain, but in all fairness, the quality has improved with each generation introduced. "When you're big, and flashy, you're a ta...
Upgrade Help: CDP or DAC
Yes, I meant to include the coax output; it is the preferred connection from transport to DAC. Momentary lapse.
Upgrade Help: CDP or DAC
On a side note, you should also research cables in the archives. You'll need a Toslink (optical) cable from CDP to DAC input. Try not to let all the different opinions in the threads drive you crazy. You don't need to spend big bucks for a decent ...
Upgrade Help: CDP or DAC
I think the answers here will be to buy a DAC and use the Marantz as the transport..that's what I would do. (For $700 you would not make a significant upgrade with a new CDP). Try looking thru the archives for opinions on a new DAC; the forum is ...
Speaker grills on or off?
Agree that it depends on the speaker. My bookshelves sound better off, more dynamic. In main system, floorstanders are noticeably more cohesive with grills on.
B&W 805S vs CM5s
CM5s are budget speakers IMHO. They are not in the same league as any of the 805's. Lesser build quality, aluminum tweeter, not very involving, and does not have the B&W house sound. (but does have good detail). My point is this; there are many...
New shipping charges at Amazon
To anybody interested...Import CDs is an Amazon vender but has their own site. Shipping rates are $2.98 for up to 2 CDs, then $1.49 for each additional CD. Prices are slightly higher on ImportCDs.com but it's a good site when buying multiple items...
Bass leaves after amp warms up?
Fishing716... understandably you're selling the amp, but why the Synch One's?
