It's great that you've found a way to make the dac work for you. It seems like everybody loves ROON.   My only advice is to audition different cables, many online dealers have trial periods.

OK, so there is much more flexibility with the Qutest over previous models.I've read that each filter on a DAC needs break-in time. How many hours are on your unit now? I'd guess you should go for 200 hrs. on each filter that you use. This review i...

One of the bugs that really irks me is the @ function. I like to alert members who post on a thread and this function rarely works.
What is wrong with Audiogon Forums?

Buying large audio equipment
There's no reason to worry about a purchase and shipping from a manufacturer or dealer. After all, their reputation is on the line.   When buying from a private seller you need to do your due diligence. I bought a pair of used floorstanders based ...
Poor power in the house

Poor power in the house
I agree with adding a dedicated line for your audio setup. Have the electrician install this wire to your circuit panel. Your HiFi kit will then be isolated from all other devices and appliances in your house. You should have surge protection for y...
Power help
Why not check out a PS Audio Powerplant? It regenerates the incoming line voltage and produces a new clean sine-wave for your components.  It regulates voltage, cleans dirty power from the grid, and lowers the noise floor.
More expensive DAC the answer?
I agree that you should start at the source. The distortion you speak of may really be jitter from the DAC presenting as harshness thru the speakers.Additionally, as I stated above, a hollow sound may indicate that you need acoustic treatment adde...
