Vinyl's Noise Floor Having recently returned to vinyl after some 20 years, I too was apprehensive about my ability to hear beyond the inherent noise that does exist on lp's. I'm using a Rega P 25 with Super Elyse through the new Black Cube with upgraded power supply....
Nitty Gritty or VPI, Which record cleaner ? ? ? ? I too recently got back into viynl and purchased a VPI 16.5 immediatly. I would not stay with lp's without it! It takes two or three minutes to clean and rinse the dirtiest of discs. One of the best purchases I have ever made.
Is it necessary to clean every record? Why have a VPI if you're not going to clean each new disc. I spend 2-3 minutes per disc for a thorough wash and rinse with that machine.
Reaching the end of a music collection I've been listening to classical music for over forty years now; first on lp's, then on cd's, now on lp's again with current analogue playing and cleaning equipment. I will never run out of music or software to listen to or learn about. Classical ...

Suggestions on integrated tube amps? I had an opportunity to buy a Magnum Dynalab MD208 receiver a year ago. Being unimpressed with it after two or three days of listening, I had been using it with a backround (fm) system. After reading reviews in 'phile and others, which reported th...

Tuner in the 600 range for classical music? Even tho there are some tuners that will d x better, for classical music, assuming you have a relitively strong signal, I would opt for one of the Magnum Dynalab tuners. You could get a used 101 and if you could stretch your budget a little, an Et...

What's the best sounding SS or Tube linestage pre? You should check out the Audible Illusions line stage or phono stage pre-amps. Readily available--rated Class A--and luscious sounding.
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf? I use a pair of Castle Isis bookshelf speakers which are designed for close-to-rear wall placement as a second system with a Magnum Dynalab reciever, and they sound fine when placed in this manner. How strong are they below 50 Hz?....certainly ade...
